Fight against WWW Prefix
I have a few words to say about the usage of "WWW." prefix in opera mini and mobile.1. It's not needed in most cases.
Websites work without it: For example, go to opera.com and you are redirected to www.opera.com
- there are only a handful of sites that actually require it.
2. It is on the way of fast operation.
Most cases you use the web nowadays with a mobile browser, you usually want to go to a specific subdomain site like
m.digg.com -mobile version
m.google.com -mobile version
yourblog.blogspot.com -usual blog domain
touch.facebook.com - touch optimised version
Now, if you were to go to these sites, you need to backspace the prefix every time. Or you can try to highlight it with the touchscreen if you have one. One word: Tedious. Second word: Frustrating.
EDIT: I remembered that it is also in the way of typing a previously visited site or a bookmark if the address does not have the prefix. Like someones blog.
3. How should you implement it?
- Maybe let it go.
- Have it as a single word that will be erased with a single backspace.
- Make it a button in the url-bar. Tap it to activate.
- Have it in options to disable.
Thanks for the greatest mobile browser, may it improve and prosper.
Or put it in your speed dials.

Opera Mini 5.1
Opera/9.80 (J2ME/MIDP; Opera Mini/5.0 (compatible; Googlebot/19.826; U; en) Presto/2.5.25
Opera/9.80 (J2ME/MIDP; Opera Mini/5.0 (compatible; Googlebot/19.826; U; en) Presto/2.5.25
"Have it as a single word that will be erased with a single backspace" .
That's the solution.
That's the solution.
