Do I have to install Sun Java for Opera too?
A website I wanted to use requires Sun Java 1.4.2_06 or later. The Java thing in my Windows Control Panel tells me that I do have Sun Java "Version 6 Update 20 (build 1.6.0_20-b02)" installed. But still the website tells me I need to install Java.I have been to the Opera settings for that website and enabled everything there is to enable on the different tabs. I have also checked and verified that no content is being blocked by either Opera or the firewall. (And the site works with IE6.)
The web page that causes me grief: http://streaming1.nordea.com/2gReq/detect.html
Flash must be installed separately for each browser. But I don't have to install Java separately to each browser?
Windows XP
Opera 9.64.
Try a better site. Here is two links to the Sun Java tester: http://www.java.com/en/download/help/testvm.xml http://www.java.com/en/download/installed.jsp
Also, here is a link to a previous post about solving Java problems: http://my.opera.com/community/forums/findpost.pl?id=5370891

also why are you running 9.64?
Masking as Firefox changed nothing. I tried.
I am using 9.64 because Opera Software changed too many things in the version(s) after 9.64. I dislike the new look very much. And I think 9.64 uses less memory. Every single MB of RAM is important. The newer versions has too many fancy features. (Actually 9.64 has a little junk built into it too.)
RAM is there to be used. Same story as with horsepowers.

Better site?
The first link tells me that Java is working and that I have got the latest Java installed.
The second link didn't learn me something new, but thanks.
The Java topic you mention seems to be about issues with Java and Opera 10.

The more percent of the available horsepower I use, the faster my vehicle goes.

may be so:
The more horsepowers U have, the faster U can go and can get more acceleration
The more memory U have, the more of heavy applications U can use and they run faster
