My car doesn't have any backup sensor, so I know it's not that.

Nice car. Have a look in the glovebox. There might be some kind of owner's manual in there.

Appears you backed into a small square item that dented your bumper.

It's for the towing bolt/safety link, if you want to tow a small trailer, you pop that off, and it leads to a hole in the (actual) bumper where you would screw/bolt it in... then use a chain or cable from that to the trailer. Basically in case the actual trailer hitch fails, the trailer *shouldn't* go flying off into nowhere.

It can also be used in the reverse, especially in racing, because having a tow hook there is easier to access for the emergency people if you fall off the track, than digging around under the car.

Maybe it's where the drag chute attaches.

I'm sure it's available as an option and that's probably where it would go.

I see.
I was going to suggest that it was a sensor for backing up.
(You know, when you back up it beeps when you get too close to something.)

I think it might be for the towing thing, but it doesn't open! there is a small towing cap at my front bumper which does open though:

Probably because the front one is more likely to be used, and also used for "unintentional" things, like if it breaks down, the tow truck might use that, but the rear one is pretty much only for trailers or something "you choose"... so a bit more permanent.

also the car doesn't have a usb port, but it does have an audio auxiliary jack (like in the honda civic):

I was wondering if I could play mp3 music that's on my usb drive through the audio auxiliary jack by using an adaptor, something like this:

I know a bit ambitious...

Uh.....

Wouldn't it be a whole lot easier just to drop in and ask your local Mercedes dealer?
Or simply phone them?

People here can only guess — at best — unless they own a similar vehicle.

Anybody want to see a picture of my car?
I can't think of a pretext to publish it.
