freeware Opera Settings Import & Export Tool (Plug for Stu's tool)
This post is to thank Stu for this great, free tool, and spread the word to folks.I am not affiliated with Stu, or this software in any way, just a happy user.
The tool has been around for a while, I have never had an issue.
saved me a lot of fuss a few times as a backup, and when I needed to do a clean install.
Also stashed a backup on a USB stick to zap "My" Opera on my gals computer, painlessly.
Windows reinstalls are also much more pleasant too,
this gadget gets opera back up to all my picky little details
in 4 or so quick clicks.
Thanks Stu, for this. I hope some other folks find it useful, and have good luck with it.
Below is some info from Stu's page:

Linux (GTK2) version (856 kB) - download, mark as executable and run.
A little freeware tool I wrote to take some of the pain out of managing/migrating/backing up/restoring Opera profiles. It allows backup and restore of your bookmarks, mail, contacts, sessions, preferences, etc and enables easy transfer of them between Opera installations in different folders or OSes. Also good for finding and restoring lost settings if they disappeared after an Opera upgrade...
The program should work fine, but making a manual backup of your settings before using it is never a bad idea. And if you have any suggestions or find any bugs, drop me a line!
Features:
Easy to use
Lets you preview your settings before importing or exporting
Allows cleanly transferring individual settings without the cruft that can build up in an Opera profile folder
Available for both Windows and Linux, and your settings can be transferred between OSes
Intelligently locates all the Opera profiles on a typical Windows system, so good for finding "lost" profiles
Stores settings files in their original state in an open archive (tar.gz) format, so your exported settings can always be easily restored by hand should the need arise
Corrects .ini paths on import so settings imported from a different folder/OS work correctly
I have used it for years and recommend it frequently — the link is in my sig. I find that it does have a few issues — it doesn't find my Opera profile, perhaps because I use the Classic installer — but it does the job quickly and is easy to use.
A few enhancements would make it perfect.

- Archive encryption
- 7-Zip Archive format
- Able to run while Opera is open
