10.53 cannot manage bookmarks in root directory

When I save a bookmark in the root directory of "Bookmarks" it appears in the list along with the bookmark subdirectories when I open the bookmarks, control -B. When I open the "manage bookmarks" window only the subdirectories appear and everything not in a subdirectory is excluded. The result is that I cannot shift these entries in the root directory to a sub directory and cannot delete them. Am I missing something?

Two options:
1. Open the Bookmarks Panel (Ctrl+B as you mentioned) while the "Bookmark Manager" is opened, you can drag & drop between them.

2. In "Bookmark Manager" click on the "View" button and change to "Split View" or "Full View"... or you can right-click somewhere, and select View - Split View or Full View.

If that still doesn't work, then somehow you moved the splitter till the treeview disappeared, and you'll have to open your "operaprefs.ini" file, and search for "Bookmarks Manager Splitter" and change the value... to... some sort of value... looking at mine it says 7900+ so it's not pixels... but go with that number since I can see mine...lol

Full view solved the problem. Also now I see that I can click on the top line in the right pane of any subdirectory to get the root displayed. Intuitively I was expecting to be able to select the root from the left pane like I can in windows explorer but that doesn't appear to be possible here.

If you can click on an empty spot, or else Ctrl-click on the selected directory (to unselect it), you can select the root directory.

The current layout is what they've had since Opera 7. Yes, Opera 6.x actually did show a root folder you could click on, but versions since 7 have not. Yes, we've complained about this lack since then, but they don't seem to consider it a significant issue. Though 10.53 isn't a beta version (except in Linux/UNIX), so you posted in the wrong forum here ...
