annoying red button at top left doesn't stay hidden

hello

I set that annoying red button at top left to be 'off' in Appearance > Toolbars > Placement > "off"
I click ALT+F11 to display "file, edit, view, etc" bar
I click ALT+F11 to hide "file, edit, view, etc" bar
the red button is there AGAIN!!!mad

how can I prevent this?

That annoying red button at top left is your Main Menu button. It is hard Coded into the New Opera look. Your only other Option is to Open it click on the next to last item "show Menu bar " which toggles Opera from the "New Look" to the "Classic Look" . The big red button will be gone and Opera will return to it's Classic Look"

cheers!!

EDIT: my post was irrelevant, I should have read more carefully what epilos wrote...

1. Press Shift + F11 and go to the "Toolbars" tab
2. Now click on the menu button that you want to hide (it should get a yellow rectangle around it)
3. In the toolbars tab, look at the "Placement" dropdown, change it to "Off", then click OK
Menu button is now gone.
Now pressing "Alt" will give you the menu dropdown, so this is not lost.
To get the button back, press Shift + F11 and check the "Show hidden toolbars while customizing" option; now you can select the menu button and change it's placement back to "Top"
