10.53 (rev 3374) freeze on XP SP3
Hello,I've got a problem on 10.53 (which i've just installed 1 week ago)
Sometimes, it freeze. I need to close (badly, i say, with ctrl+alt+supp + kill this process, or with superF4, because opera does not respond at all)
I can't say when it's critical :
- sometime, i've visited some sites with a lot of lot, sometimes not
- sometime, i've a huge collection of opened tabs, sometime i've only 5 or 6
- everytime, the sites i visit uses a good quantity of javascript
It always append after a certain time (more than 1 hour)
On some site (www.toocharger.com, for exemple), pics not loaad at all( i think it's an other problem, but can't say...)
I'm on XPPRO, SP3 (same problem on XP family SP3), Flash10, Opera 10.53 build 3374 (downloaded on opera.com one or 2 weeks ago) - On linux (ubuntu flavour), i haven't this problem, nor on previous version i ran on my Windows (9.64) - i don't use mail on opera, nor unite or synchronization. All the computer i use are 32bits - some of them are multi-procs.
Perhaps it's a problem of memory (releasing memory, or size of it), but neighter the computer i use (pro : 1.3 GO ram - perso : 750 Mo), the problem seem to be the same.
Can i post my config file to give indications to someone that can help me ?????
Thanks for your help, and please apologize for my english (not my mother language)

I always do that way : the first time i install a new version of Opera, i try a clean install. If it works good, i reinstall on the prev directory (update). I've done this way since the v8, but i uses opera since... i can't remenber... perhaps since 2002/2003 (the free versions, with ads in the top-right corner, if you remember)
Is it possible that is due of the fact i run on XPSP3 ?

I'm using Opera on XP SP3 (and Win 7) and it's working fine. The only reason Opera becomes unresponsive on my machines is when it has to wait for a hdd or a network drive to spin up/initialise. I guess other I/O delays (such as long swapping operation) can also make it unresponsive, but I haven't seen Opera really freeze or crash in ages.
Please clarify: are you experiencing this on a clean Opera install or an upgraded one? And what do you exactly mean by 'freeze' - how long have you waited to see whether maybe Opera is just unresponsive for a while?
The site www.toocharger.com loads with images here. Does it always load without images for you?

i have the same version of opera and same os and sometimes opera freeze with no reasons; i see that opera freeze easily if i use copy and paste function but this do not always, only sometimes
lastest this morning (i have only 2 tab opened): after paste a part of an link address at megauploads site for download a friends document, i write the captcha word, click to continue and countdows is started (45 seconds)...when it arrive to 25-30 seconds opera start to freeze with no reasons and lastest number of seconds of countdown that is showed first of total freeze is 16: at this point opera was completely freezed and for successive minutes it showed me same page with 16 seconds until i used taskmanager of windows xp with sp3 and i see that opera use the cpu from 92 to 98 % and after 7-8 minutes: i killed the application (opera). when i restart opera i continued with last navigation (megaupload for try to download the document) and opera worked fine
in lastest week i had some freezes in different sites and without reason because opera in one day a "x" site is shown fine while in a second day opera freeze in same "x" site
freeze with low or high tabs opened (this morning with 2 tab, saturday with 4or5, but i used opera with 10 tabs opened without problems)
opera 10.53 installed (lastest), lastest flash 10, java 6 update 18, 384 mb of ram, pentium 4 1.3 ghz, windows xp with sp3 and all updates
with earlier versions of opera i haven't any problems

I have been having the same kind of problem. I am using a desktop that is part of a subnet at the U of KY. My computer was blocked by the University because a computer in my group was spamming. The IT guy could not find the culprit, but noticed that when Opera was running on my machine the CPU usage would max and Opera would lock up. Another machine was definitely spamming but the problem did not completely go away when that one was fixed. He thought that something might have hooked into Opera and was using it to spam. I am now using Firefox;I don't like it nearly as well as Opera, but the spamming seems to have ceased.
I was using the latest upgrade of Opera and completely which I completely uninstalled and reinstalled without fixing the issue. The desktop is running Win XP 2002, service pack 3. I routinely use Macafees and periodically use Spybot S&D. Neither found any malware. I know there are other anti-malware programs out there, but those are routinely used here and I haven't got the time to radomly keep trying different programs. I'm willing to try other apps if someone would steer me to something likely to work.
I would really appreciate any help that would get me back to using Opera.

@grrrrrr :
When it freeze, the top of the opera's window says "not responding". The window, sometime, look like an old style of win95/98.
On Toocherger, i can see the pub, the banners and so on, but not the image (*.jpg). I haven't this problem on other websites
Memory : let me laught. Opera uses less memory than Firefox (witch i used when opera crashes) or IE (sometime, i need to use it for site that don't work on Opera
) - FF and IE never crash
Type of install : see my last post (clean install - uses Opera since 2000, i think, perhaps since 98 and the netscape's time)
