I'm quite happy with this build for now. I see improvements in speed as well in the GUI - that previous misconception in the Speed Dial is fixed and it now looks amazing. A little more on the GUI, here are my thoughts on the new menu button. Apart from that, a few 'leftover' bugs.

  • Ctrl + click on an image to save it. Then change the name in the dialog window, but without typing an extension. That produces an extensionless file.
    http://s3.postimage.org/ayszr-e417a60e6fff01043f62031043c12ab7.png
    http://s3.postimage.org/ayxyJ-e417a60e6fff01043f62031043c12ab7.png
Look at the shots. If I click 'Save' in the first case, everything is okay. But if go on the second way, I have to add the extension myself. Reported as DSK-300193.
  • I've got a problem with some of the context menus - when I add an icon to a menu entry, it stops working.
E.g. under [Speed Dial Thumbnail Popup Menu],
    Item, "Reload" = Reload thumbnail
    works, but
    Item, "Reload" = Reload thumbnail,,,,"Reload"
does not. Same for the rest of the entries under the same section. Can someone confirm?
  • You all know how images are rendered in Opera - from top to bottom. Larger ones (e.g. wallpapers) seem to stop rendering sometimes at about 10%, other times at about 50. It continues the download (as seen from the progress bar), but the whole image is drawn only after it's fully loaded. This seems to happen both when I open an image in a separate tab and when I view it on a page (e.g. deviantArt).
  • Some issues with autocomplete - sometimes I have to type 3-4 characters of a bookmark's name for it to show up - in such case, only the address would appear, but not the title. Another point - typing 'config', 'debug', 'cache' does not show Opera's 'internal' pages like I think it should.
  • The search field does not remember its size. I can resize it, but when I close the current tab, it gets back to its default width. It is somehow related to the screen resolution and to the panels.
  • I sometimes happen to get 'Could not locate remote server' on a first load of a page. Hitting reload fixes it, but it's a bit annoying.

speedimprovements are cool - 1664 on 10.60alpha vs. 1349 on 10.53 vs. 241 on IE6.0 - should be noticeable smile

To change the Opera menu's text, open up en.lng in Opera\locale\en and search for 606160820. Leave it blank between the quotes where it says "menu" to remove the text entirely, leaving the button a little less wide. Credits to rm20010 from neowin, and Satan D. Lucifer from the desktop team blog.

I have been using 10.53 for a while now and experiencing an intermittent crash. Otherwise I would have waited before upgrading to 10.60

I am pleased to report a performance increase with 10.60, the crash I did have will take time to sort out.

Keep up the good work up

A good release, but I've come across some problems that are being a little annoying.

Opera still fails to maximise/gain focus when a link is clicked in an external app and opened in Opera. You have to maximise it manually.

The X button on windowed tabs is misaligned on a lot of skins. You have to move the cursor to the left of the button to click it.

If placed in another position on Opera, the menu button cannot then be removed without resetting the toolbar it was placed on. The original O menu button can't be removed at all. This doesn't really bother me, but seeing as the button can be found in the Buttons submenu of the Appearance menu, it makes sense to have it usable.

"Scroll Is Pan" is still the worst touch scrolling implementation on any browser. Bar none.

Double clicking an empty spot on the tab bar should open a new tab, but it's unpredictable at best.

Pages still need to be focused with a click in order to catch subsequent clicks.

Loading a large picture halts at 10% until it's all loaded.

Still some annoying bugs hanging on from the early days of 10.5 (the floating panel, background tab ordering, MDI tab positioning, etc.), but the fixes and improvements are very welcome.

The significance of this is profound in relation to the actual speed of rl browsing.

Found out that chrome integration drag area is set to 20 by default.

When not maximized, I can't move the next tab to the first tab.

For example this: SnapShot.png

Move the second tab to exchange position on the first one, you can't move it the "O" Menu is blocking it. You need to drag the tab out of the tab bar and place it at the left of the first tab on the left.

Sounds like lots is happening, great to hear we've got the speed crown back. yes I agree with most here about the 'O' menu button - good idea for new users to figure out it's a menu button, bad idea for those of us who want the real estate back - can we have an option please?

A few more issues:

* Still wish the local-invalid-certificate-bug would get some attention.
* Still wish I could drag background tabs to rearrange them without them jumping forward.
* Gmail UI bug - maximising the Opera window causes the gmail search box to wrap to a new line after the gmail image (does not happen in 10.53). Strangely, restoring it (i.e. making it smaller) moves the search box back to where it's meant to be.

Absolutely no problem here also on Gutenberg, load almost instantly and everything works as it should.
On the other hand, here http://www.fixya.com/users/azraelsrl - or in almost any other part if this site - if you navigate more than one page using the links , the Back and Forward commands/buttons stop working for as long as 3 minutes. And only on that site, on that tab. In any other tab all is OK, just a slight decrease in speed.

The improvements in speed are definitely welcome. It's great to hear that Opera is once again king of the hill in terms of speed. I can't say that I'm happy with the UI changes though. I thought the UI for 10.5 was perfect, and the UI in 10.6 Alpha is a step in the wrong direction. The "menu" text is completely unnecessary, and although I would prefer that it be completely removed by default, I would at least like to see an option to use only the image, as with other buttons on the toolbars. The second thing that bothers me even more than the menu text is the location of the menu button. In 10.5 the menu button was located directly beside the tabs, which was perfect. In 10.6 the button is slightly above them. This just looks and feels so wrong, and annoys me to the point where I would prefer not to use the browser if this isn't changed, or at least be forced to use a custom theme, which shouldn't be necessary. I'm not sure if the menu button appears offset like that for everyone though. I've seen screenshots from other people with the button directly beside and flush with the tabs, and some with the button slightly above the tabs. Would anyone care to clear this up for me?
