Opera Mini 5 - IP Address Problems
Hi,The browser has been brilliant so far on the Android platform, but I've encountered a couple of problems.
Firstly when I tried to sign into Facebook it thought my sign-in was suspicious, as the IP address that was directed from the Opera Mini 5 Browser appears to be Norwegian, where I presume Opera are based.
Secondly it won't allow me post on any of the boards on 4chan (saying it's been blocked by the isp) Even though I can post fine using the default Android browser, and the other browsers available for the device.
Anyone know how I can resolve these issues?
Many thanks : )
I had the Facebook problem, too. The first time, using Opera Mini 4.2, I had to change my password. The second time I was using a Facebook addon to the Bolt browser and Facebook locked me out until I'd managed to identify several photos of my Facebook "friends". Of course, some of the photos weren't of people at all, they'd just been tagged with my "friend's" names; and in any case, who remembers the faces of all of their Facebook "friends" anyway? I managed to get back in eventually, more by luck than judgement.
I can't offer any help with the problem other than perhaps to use another app with Facebook; for example, I use the excellent Snaptu (http://www.snaptu.com/) which gives you multiple apps in one, including access to Twitter, Facebook, BBC News, weather, tech blog sites, and much, much more. And you could also email Facebook requesting that they get their act together: the Internet is global, not just the US; they ought to expect us to log in via other countries from time to time. They should be aware of Opera Mini's method of working through servers in Norway and allow it to do its job. They can email us to tell us that we appear to have logged in from Norway, but just the first time we do so, not every time.
As to your second problem, what makes you think it's anything to do with OM? From what I've heard, quite a few ISPs block access to 4chan.

It's not blocked by my ISP.
Can post and use via my desktop and the other Android browsers, just not Opera Mini.
Strange that no one else here has mentioned a similar problem. Don't suppose there's a way to change the IP address that the Opera Mini browser is displaying?
Seriously? 4chan? With OM?
If I had to guess I'll say someone must have sent cheese pizzas via Opera's proxy and get the IPs banned.
