Automatic And Native Checking For Bookmarks Dead Links

Hi!

I would like to suggest to Opera staff that they could make an Opera functionality to automatically verify/check how many and exactly which links are broken in the Bookmarks. That functionality would create, after accomplishing the verification, a log file or a simple report giving the relevant informations to the user and saying/pointing what kinds of errors happened during the checking (404 Not Found, 505 HTTP Version Not Supported, 403 Forbidden, 503 Service Unavailable, and so on) and for which Bookmarks' links.

If, and only if, possible, it would be interesting that the report/log file also gave informations on the whereabouts of the websites corresponding to the broken links (for example, if they have changed their server domain, are not available anymore and so on).

I have almost 2000 links in my Bookmarks section and it would be not so much practical to check each one of them by hand! :-)

If that functionality existed, that task would be much more simple!

I am aware that there is a simple software called "AM-Deadlink 4.1", but it only works on a Windows machine and I use Linux/UNIX. Let alone that a native functionality is much better than an external app.

See You!

Did you think this functionality useful?

Yes. This would be useful, as would a log of duplicate bookmarks. Letting the bookmark file grow out of control is apparently the cause of several problems with slow startup of Opera, sluggish performance when synchronising, etc.
