browser.js not updating?
Version 9.64Build 10487
Platform Win32 System Windows XP
Java Sun Java Runtime Environment version 1.6
XHTML+Voice Plug-in not loaded
Current browser.js status: enabled.
Target version and time stamp of the active browser.js file is Opera 9.60, Desktop, February 1, 2010.
Something here is preventing most media in web pages (including YouTube).
Please help me fix this in O 9.64. Thank you.

It is supposed to update automatically every week. Four months behind does not sound right. What is up with that?
I mentioned YT not working, but also a simple zip-file download, a transaction invoking PayPal, Grooveshark, other media embedded in web pages…
Someone please be so kind to help with this.

Any ideas how to fix/update this? It should be simple.
1) Check your config settings
2) Udate manually
See http://www.opera.com/docs/browserjs/
Checking for updates manually
Opera downloads the file automatically once a week, but if you want to make absolutely sure you have the latest file you can follow these steps:
1. Go to the Browser JavaScript setting and change the value to 1.
2. Click the "Save" button below the setting.
3. Use Help > Check for updates in Opera's menu bar.
Opera may tell you no new Opera version is available, but it will still check for a new version of the browser.js file.
Help > Check for updates in Opera's menu bar invokes a dialog box:
I use 9.64 and select "No" accordingly. This is not manual; it is a dead end. Where can I download and install the current brower script for 9.64?“A new version of Opera, Opera 10.53, is available. Would you like to upgrade now?”
"Yes or No?"
I just selected "Yes" and downloaded the install file. It does not seem to have magically installed a new browser.js file. I still have:
Current browser.js status: enabled.
Target version and time stamp of the active browser.js file is Opera 9.60, Desktop, February 1, 2010.
Manual, Automatic, Magic, who cares? Someone please show me how to update browser.js after four months of performance regressing.
)I tried both, manual and automatic, but manual mode ends up in the update dialogue, which I send to hell, and that's the end of the story.
Automatic mode also does not seem to change anything. If I haven't copied the browser.js of the separate Opera Installation (currently 10.54), which I always keep up to date, nothing would happen for years!
So, any hints, tricks, something... ? I don't know what to do.
I just downloaded 9.54 and installed it, run it, and watch a browser.js file been placed on my laptop.
Opera 9.60, Desktop, February 1, 2010 is the latest.
So the old versions appear to be discontinued.

As of today, the latest browser.js for 10.00 core (including 10.10) is dated 28 May.... there are separate browser.js for different major versions (rendering engine). As you see in my forum signature, I've 10.10, 10.53 and 10.60 alpha snapshot installed system wide. I have also downloaded and installed 9.64 for this user account only using the Classic installer, especially to investigate your issue, and updated its browser.js by the recommended method (same method as choope suggested). I have directly compared content of the browser.js for those different versions using Notepad++'s compare function. I found 10.53 and 10.60 alpha snapshot to have the same browser.js for 10.50 core (rendering engine: Opera Presto 2.5). Version 10.10 has a different browser.js (for 10.00 core; Opera Presto 2.2), while 9.64 yet has another slightly different browser.js (for 9.60 Desktop; Opera Presto 2.1.1).
@choope, as I've stated above, I've installed 9.64 and updated its browser.js manually just for testing purpose. "Opera 9.60, Desktop, February 1, 2010" IS the latest browser.js for 9.64.
