Um... Sync will be built-in future versions of Firefox and Fennec. Currently it's trying to be landed on Trunk (Minefield) which means it could be in Firefox 4 and Fennec 2 at the earliest if things go well.
Currently the Sync extension is mainly for those who need the functions Sync offers now and/or want to help Mozilla test and debug it.

Thing is, Firefox can copy stuff all they want.
Opera on the other hand was innovating and inventing stuff, and will probably continue to do so.
Until things stay this way, I don't really care.
In the worst case, you occasionally will have to correct someone and tell them that Firefox didn't invent Link. ;D
