Update for Opera Mini 5 will not install on Sony Ericsson Equinox

I have been running OM5 on a Sony Ericsson Equinox (also known as the T-Mobile TM717). I read about the silent update and hoped it would fix some bugs.

Since then, after launching OM5, it starts up and says "installing." It then switches to a black screen with white letters which read "Unable to connect to the Internet. Please check your settings." "opera mini 5"

I have been through the settings several times.

I have deleted OM5 and installed several times with no success. I have 80MB of free phone memory and over a gig on the memory card.

Is the update incompatible? Any ideas? This is my only way to do email and browse the net.

Thanks.

Have you checked if the settings for java midlets is correct?
I remember on my old SE Phone had to configure access point for java apps seperately.

Check app permissions and manually set up the correct access point as default - platform A200 must have this option (?)

I found OM5b2 still in my apps folder. It works fine so I used the same settings. Still getting the same message in OM5 final.

Everything is working now. I uninstalled, went back to m.opera.com, chose Other download options, Select Code-Signing Certificate, Verisign, then downloaded OM5 again.

Everything works fine now. I don't know if that fixed it or if Opera had a corrupt file in the download area. Wierd.

Thanks for your help everyone. I guess it's a good idea to keep at least one old version around, just in case. :-)
