Words overlapping on Fox1
I'm noticing words in the text are overlapping on Fox etc. You'll see it right under "the lastest news" - I've decreased the font size but this doesn't help. I'll send you a picture so you can see what I'm trying to say. Your help to fix this will be appreciated. Thanks.Words overlapping.jpgWindows 7 / Toshiba L675-00X

What are your settings for "fit to width", "minimum font size", and page zoom? What is your OS and Opera version? (putting some basic info in Your Signature can save a lot of time.
I don't see a problem on Fox News at normal zoom levels — my minimum font size is 12 pixels, fit to width is off. If I zoom to 150% then some text overlaps, which is not surprising.

Thank you Pesala for your reply. The "fit to width" in the Tools / Preferences / Webpages was unchecked. Putting the check mark back in there does fix the problem. But going to Jerusalempost.com, I encounter another problem. A section of the screen (picture) doesn't show up till I shut the "fit to width" off. Is this a normal thing with Opera or is it a bug?
My Icon size is set at 120%. Sorry about the lack of info. I shall update my signature.
I have Opera 10:53. My OS is Vista Home Premium. Thanks again Pesala for your helpful replies.

I find it best to leave "Fit to Width" off, but it does fix the rendering on some sites.
On the jerusalem post site it freezes Opera completely for me.
Is it a bug? There are always bugs in software, but not all problems are caused by bugs. It is hard to know without some careful checking of the site code. See the sticky threads at the top of the forum on reporting site problems and compatibility issues.
Mask as Firefox in site preferences will fix a lot of other problematic sites.

Ok - thanks again for your informative help. Do you think that Opera is working to correct these certain problems? I find it peculiar that FF / Google Chrome / IE8 etc display these sites without producing the problems that Opera does.
This browser (Opera) in my judgment is the best out there, but it would be nice to see these glitches fixed. Anyway Pesala, your help on this forum is much appreciated and by all I'm sure.

As I said, read the sticky thread on compatibility — your answer is there.

I sure would read what you mention if indeed it was there. You're going to have to be a bit more specific, especially if what you are saying is hidden under some other heading.

Gravellips, there are no "sticky threads" or "compatibility" words at the top of this page. Rather, scroll back up to the top, notice "Words overlapping on Fox1" then under that heading, notice the fourth subject to the right called "Opera Browser" - click on that, and then you will find on the top of that page that comes up "General discussion about Web site compatibility in Opera." There you will find some info regarding what you had asked Pesala. Hope this is helpful. :-}
