Cyrillic fonts shown as squares in Opera 10.53

Cyrillic fonts on some page section titles (e.g. livejournal post titles etc) appear as squares, while the normal text in cyrillic fonts on the same page is shown correctly. Is there a way to fix this? I use Opera 10.53 on Leopard.

What about some examples? Some random russian web sites I happened to run across look alright here ( that's 10.54 on OSX 10.4.11 PowerPC )

check dpmmax.livejournal.com - the russian characters on the left hand side of the post titles (the lines with the dates) are shown as squares
