EQUALITY IN GENDER

There is no equality between genders in Islam, as Islam gives men the right to have more than one wife, but does it not give the same right to women to have more than one husband.

Islam does not approve of polyandry, i.e., a woman taking up more than one husband. It is the male whose children the women bear. If a woman had multiple husbands, it would not be easy to know who is the biological father of the child. When a child is conceived, God puts love and affection in the hearts of the parents so that they can bring up the child. Without this love, life cannot be sustained. But if there was dispute about who really has fathered the child, there would be no love in the heart of the fathers. Psychologists say that children who grow up without knowing who their father is, are lacking in stability and maturity. These days because of scientific progress in DNA testing, one can say who the father is; but these tests were not available for mankind till now. Islam has historically provided for peace and stability in the family, not discord.

As salaamu alaikum,
Allah has blessed man and woman to conceive. However, life originates from Himself. If He wishes He simply says "Be" and man is created as in the case of Adam (as) and Jesus (Isa (as)). In most cases He has chosen to place the (seed) of life in man and if you think about it that seed (sperm) is already alive traveling to the egg (womb) of the woman, which if it makes it, then it continues to live. If not then it dies. This similar process He reveals to man in all of His creation (the seed of life). If a woman had more than one husband then there would be many different (sperm) seeds being placed inside of her womb. This is filthy and it is what causes parts of the enmity that exist in the world. When a woman has multiple fathers of their children and you look at the children none of them children resemble one another unless they have certain attributes from the mother herself. Yet if a man has children by multiple women then you will see that each of those children favor one another. In the Bible Prophets of old as well as mankind had multiple wives so you can see that this practice was already approved by God. It did'nt become new with Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). A woman is a precious creation of God, she is suppose to be look at in awe and should carry herself like an earthly angel. She is God's gift to man and man is suppose to treat her as such. There are many circumstances in which God allows for a man to take more than one wife and if the man cannot fulfill those circumstances then he is only to have one. There is much much more in trying to show women reasons behind this serious matter but the end result is that it is God's will. It is He that has determined this. I hope that you will understand it so that you won't hate something that God has ordained.
May Allah continue to guide us all.
