Personal Bar management

The current behaviour of the personal bar means that any item added to it is automatically added to the bookmarks, however the items are simply added to the root directory of the bookmarks menu and not to a specific folder.

This means over time (adding and removing items from the personal bar) your bookmarks folder (root directory) become cluttered and very difficult to manage. Currently, there is a tweak you can do of the menu file, which lets you delete items from the personal bar, and also from the bookmarks, with one action.

However for your average Joe user this is not a suitable solution to the problem.

Items that are added to the personal bar should be filed in a separate folder in the bookmarks directory called "personal bar" or something similar and when those items are removed from the personal bar they are deleted from the bookmarks too (added to trash).

p.s is there currently a tweak which solves the issue of filing personal bar items in a specific folder? Please let me know.

I want to say +1, but there are some flaws in your proposal:

1. What about Folders that we pinned on the Personal bar? Do we have to put the bookmark folder & all it's contents into the Personal folder, or a duplicated folder & it's content will be added into the personal bar?

2, What happened when we pinned an existing bookmark from an existing folder onto the Personal bar? Will the bookmark duplicate itself in the Personal folder, or it's automatically moved into the personal folder?

In current situation, we can pinned any item from bookmarks list to personal bar without compromised the order of the item, but if we have to move the item into a personal bar folder in order to pin it on personal bar, then it will be very inconvenience for grouping & organizing bookmarks with folders. Maybe Opera should force user to pick a folder to store the bookmark when user drag it into the personal bar? That way we won't end up with a bunch of unorganized bookmarks in the root directory...

IMHO, what we really need is a "Highlight" command from Personal bar to locate/highlight/select the the related item on bookmarks panel/manager, that way we can find it quickly. Then there should be also a "Delete" command to unpinned the item from Personal bar & send it to trashcan directly.

I would say to both of your points that items and folders that already exist in bookmarks remain in their location. This is the current behaviour anyway.

New items instead of being added to the root directory, they are added to a 'personal' folder.

More important is the delete function IMO, because otherwise you're going to end up with a folder full of old and existing personal bar items.

Hmm... Then the personal bar folder will be kinda useless? I meant if the content inside the folder doesn't reflect the item pinned on the personal bar, then it's very confusing when someone try to find a pinned item from the personal bar folder, because it might be in the personal bar folder or in other folders, depended on how you pin it on the personal bar. I think it would be better if Opera force user to store the bookmark in an appropriate folder when it's created, just pop-up the "Add bookmark" dialog when user drag the tab/link into the personal bar & we won't have to find the bookmark again to organize it later.

Yes, that's the most needed option, it's really troublesome try to find the bookmark from all over the place & delete it.
