Changes in browser.js do not work
Whe I change something in 'browser.js' the setting of 'opera:config > User Prefs > Browser javascript is reset to 1 (invalid) even after I set it to 2 (use and load this file).Just adding a simple statement in correct JS results in this.
What is the problem here ?
Strange, normally a user can edit configuration file. When it is true what you say, this browser.js file is a useless gimmick.
Thanks, but how do you enable user.js ?
I tried filling in in the opera:config : user javascript file "/home/user/.opera/user.js" but I cannot check whether it is actually working.

I don't know. There are a number of opera settings pages that hold local settings. They seem like a great asset, but I can never find them by surfing opera pages or via the Tools menu.
................... My browser.js will not update since Feb. Can someone help with this. Thank you. .....................
This is not the way how user scripts are working.... thats all.. the browser.js doesn't exist for this purpose.
This is the way:
Open Preferences / Advanced / Content -> Javascript options / user javascript folder. Choose your desired folder. Put your "whatever.js" files to this very folder. You can put even more files to here.
Opera will automatically load and apply these scripts. (You need to reload open tabs)
The point: there is not a single user.js, but a folder where you put more .js file.
Read here for more information: http://www.opera.com/docs/userjs/

Browser.js is a digitally signed file. It will never be used if the signature of the content does not match the signature in the file. Only Opera Software ASA developers (and a restricted number of them, at that) can change that file.
If you want to do specific changes to how your Opera handles something, use a user javascript file instead.
