What Happened To 'Preferences'

I was more than happy with the original Opera browser, but something started making it constantly crash, the words 'Opera browser has encountered a problem and needs to close' appearing in a box on the screen. Absolutely infuriating. furious As this is not happening with this new 10.53 version of Opera I can only assume it may be intended to apply pressure on users to download 10.53. This is bad enough, but I'm not a fan of 10.53. I'm an oldie and have no interest in computers beyond surfing and sending and receiving emails, so for me 10.53 is just too full of features which is don't need or want. But the most unlikeable thing about it that there's no toolbox with 'PREFERENCES' in it. This means I can't disable and enable cookies as I browse. Not only that, when I do find 'cookies', the thing is frozen solid and I can't make any changes! Why?

I've always used Opera, but I'm beginning to think that I should start looking at other options - I don't like being forced to comply with a browser's design - things should be the other way around. Having said that, there is a very good chance that this whole problem is one of my own making, because I just too computer-stupid to understand there's an obvious/simple way of getting round it.doh In which case, I'll happily say sorry and do things properly next time.......

Please, just bring back the original Opera, or show me how to find 'Preferences' so I can get on with quietly browsing the grass of the internet like the old bull I am.bigsmile

Thank you.

You are a marvel, Purgossu!cool cool

I had no idea the red Opera thingy did anything at all - I'm sure this is made clear somewhere, but darned if I could find this info.o Anyway, I clicked on the red button as you call it and there it was, 'Preferences' (not Quick Preferences') in all it's glory. I could kiss ya!

Re the crashing, it happens as soon as I open the old Opera, never with 10.53. However, now that you've cleared up this 'Preferences' problem, I have no need of the old format any more, so I'll not bother with the crashes - which are, as you suggest, probably due to some fault in my programming of my PC. Honestly, I am absolutely clueless.

Apologies to Opera for calling them controlling.o

Many thanks indeed.happy
