I'm using 10.10 and the Browser JS page indicates: Current browser.js status: enabled. Target version and time stamp of the active browser.js file is Opera Desktop 10.00 core , May 28, 2010.
In opera:config#User%20Prefs, Browser JavaScript should be set to 2. The Browser JS page linked in purgossu's post has a link to the opera6.ini page. Under User Prefs it says this about Browser JavaScript:
Whether to download and use the browser.js file. Enable by setting to 1, Opera will then download the file and set to 2.
0 = Never download or use
2 = Use and check for updates weekly
1 = browser.js signature invalid. On next check for update, a new browser.js will be downloaded and the value set to 2.
In opera:config User Prefs check your Browser JavaScript setting. If it is set to 0, Opera won't check for Browser JS updates. If it is set for 2, maybe your file has become corrupted. Try setting it to 1 and then check for updates.

You are using 9.64, which is released March 2009. It is most likely that Opera stopped maintaining browser.js for 9.60 series (which uses an outdated rendering engine) 12 months after its release and the one out on February 1, 2010 was the most update one.Opera Desktop 10.00 core , May 28, 2010.

zager, did you go to opera:config User Prefs and set the Browser JavaScript to 1, save the changes, and then check for updates?

This suggests there is only one browser.js.
mimi, Your clips merely state the "core" used.
Can someone from Opera clarify?
It could also mean that there are multiple versions of browser.js and that certain fixes only appear in certain versions.

I know for a fact that there are separate browser.js for different major versions (rendering engine). As you see in my forum signature, I've 10.10, 10.53 and 10.60 alpha snapshot installed system wide. I have also downloaded and installed 9.64 for this user account only using the Classic installer, especially to investigate your issue, and updated its browser.js by the recommended method (same method as choope suggested). I have directly compared content of the browser.js for those different versions using Notepad++'s compare function. I found 10.53 and 10.60 alpha snapshot to have the same browser.js for 10.50 core (rendering engine: Opera Presto 2.5). Version 10.10 has a different browser.js (for 10.00 core; Opera Presto 2.2), while 9.64 yet has another slightly different browser.js (for 9.60 Desktop; Opera Presto 2.1.1).
@choope, as I've stated above, I've installed 9.64 and updated its browser.js manually just for testing purpose. "Opera 9.60, Desktop, February 1, 2010" IS the latest browser.js for 9.64.

Thank you mimi_s_mum! You have definitively confirmed the latest browser.js for 9.64.
