Open Browser in New Window?

How can I make Opera v10.53 (for Windows) open in a new window from the desktop icon instead of reusing an already open browser?
Note: I do not use tabs; under Preferences, I have "Open windows instead of tabs" selected.

Thanks!

Edit the properties for the shortcut (Right-Click - Properties) then at the end of the "Target" line, outside of the last quote, add "/newwindow".

So that it ends up looking something like:
"C:\Program Files\Opera\opera.exe" /newwindow

Thank you Vectronic, but your method does not help with URLs saved to desktop. Is there not a way from within Opera to cause it to open in a new window instead of reusing an open browser? There used to be a way to do that, no?

Again, thank you Vectronic.

Yeah, I was hoping that wasn't what you meant... and no i don't think there is a way... it's one of those "bugs" that might be a feature, but it's constantly either being fixed or broken...lol

It should be possible if you edit your registry, and add the /newwindow at the end of all the items that point to "opera.exe"... but that's not much fun.

This doesn't solve your problem, but it may make it a little less annoying... use a button <a href="opera:/button/Detach%20page,,,71017590,%22Cascade%22%20+%20Duplicate%20page%20&%20Detach%20page">Detach</a>

Detach Current Tab, Click & Hold To Duplicate Then Detach

Which will take whatever page you are currently viewing (ie: the one that just opened in the same window) and create a new window with that page in it... "Click & Hold" is the same thing, but it also leaves a tab in the original window that's the same page.

The same action could be applied to a shortcut, or a menu item (excluding the "click & hold" part). If you don't run your windows Maximized, then you can simply drag&drop the tab outside of the main window, and it will create a new window with that tab.
