RECENT INCREASES IN SPAM
Hi guys,I've been using Opera Web Mail now for more than 5 years (quite happily so far) but recently I've been receiving vastly increased amounts of spam to my account.
This spam is inevitably of an offensive sexual nature attempting to get me to click on links to pornographic/sexually oriented sites. A small percentage of this spam is also medically related, but attempts to redirect me to US sites selling sexually-related drugs for all sorts of male impotency/erectile dysfunction issues.
I always hit he "report as spam" button, and confirm it as spam. It's always removed immediately without any delay.
My main concern then is the increase in the volume of spam that's getting through to my account. On some days now, I'm actually getting more spam emails than legitimate emails! I'm also using a free Australian web mail account, and to which spam emails are almost never delivered. As I'm currently paying approximately AUD36 per annum for my Opera Web Mail account, I would've expected a superior spam-filtering/blocking mechanism to be in operation (as compared to my free Australian web mail account).
I'd therefore appreciate any comments from other Opera Web Mail account holders as to whether this is an ongoing and/or increasing problem world-wide, and also if any moderator could provide some input and/or suggestions to better solve this problem.
Thanks in advance.
—Jack.
Me again guys,
Five days on and the spam is still flooding in! I'm starting to get really sick of having to report it in bunches every day when I open up Web Mail.
Is anybody else experiencing this issue, or is the number of spams you get per day increasing? Is there some setting I can change to prevent offensive spam?
And finally, do the moderator(s) ever respond to these sorts of issues, or should I email them directly?
—Cheers, Jack.
