contact icon
i have noticed - one of my contacts in the list got an icon aside the adress- how so?

What kind of icon?
In the contacts panel, if you go in the contact's properties, there's an images tab where you can set an icon for the contact. If you use "follow contact" or "ignore contact" on a contact, the contact will get a follow or ignore icon.

The only way to add more icons is to edit the skin or use a different skin.
Extract standard_skin.zip to a folder. Add more png files to the contacts folder. Then, look for the Contact0 - Contact39 lines in skin.ini. Add a new line for each of the files you added in the contacts folder. Rezip up all the files in the folder skin.ini is in (not the folder itself) and name it myskin.zip. Start Opera and use "Shift + F12 -> skins tab" to select the new skin. Then, you'll have more contact icons.
There are of course a few problems with this:
1. Each time you upgrade Opera, you'll have to redo all of this if you want the latest skin changes.
2. If you export your contacts to an adr file, the new contactID values will be used for each contact (if you selected the new icons). But, if you import the contacts into another Opera that doesn't have your skin, those IDs will be invalid and the contacts won't have any icons.
So, it's possible at least.
