No Youtube Functionality

Is there going to be a youtube patch in the future, as youtube's layout is totally screwed. As you know, Opera hasn't been ably to open youtube for a few versions since now, and there has been no update to Opera's code. angryfishtank.webs.com was fixed a while ago, and hardly anyone evrn knows what AFT is anyway. The java error console when opened shows multiple errors when attempting to open youtube. All other browsers, I have about 6 others, work. There is a pic enclosed if you cannot access youtube yourself. >

Rather than the layout being screwed up, it looks like you're completely missing the layout all together. YouTube works fine for me, so this isn't an Opera-wide problem. Occasionally, when my network is bogged down, Opera will fail to load YouTube's style sheet, and it looks like that, but refreshing solves the problem for me.
This is what the same page on YouTube looks like for me: yesyoutube.png (Opera 10.60a Win 7 x64)

Have you tried clearing your cache and refreshing the page? Also, make sure you are in Author Mode and not User Mode (you can find this setting on the View Bar). If you haven't defined a user style sheet and you switch into User Mode, it will look like that. Other possible, but less likely causes might be site preferences and user scripts. Try disabling any user scripts you are running and clear any site preferences you have for YouTube (Preferences->Advanced->Content->Manage Site Preferences).

Not that I have noticed. All working fine for me as usual.

It is a good idea to put your OS, Opera version, and some basic system info in your Forum Signature — it saves us asking every time.

Don't have an answer but your screenshot looks how my Youtube page looks if I'm in User Mode, that might be a clue to solving the problem.

Im using windows 7 86x (32 bit), opera 10.56. This has been happening for a while now. I paid for a personal webpage called angryfishtank.webs.com, initially for school, and the new opera (10.51 i think) didn't work on the site. eBay and gMail didnt work either, and now youtube had died. I've checked all ares you've mentioned: no user mode, no custom style sheets (i think), no blocks, cache cleared, NO YOUTUBE!!! sad PS: please tell me which os and version of opera you use. if everyone is using a different opera version then that's the problem.

Here's four more things to try:

Update your browser.js. Go to Menu->Help->Check for Updates and, even though it will tell you there is no newer version of Opera, it will update browser.js.

Completely clear the cache. If your cache is corrupted, Opera might fail to completely clear it. Close Opera, then go to "C:\Users\you\AppData\Local\Opera\Opera\" and delete the "cache" and "opcache" folders. If this fixes the problem, checking "Empty on Exit" under Preferences->Advanced->History might help keep it from happening again.

Try a repair install. Download and run the installer for your current version and you should see a repair option.

Try a clean profile. Close Opera, then go to "C:\Users\you\AppData\Roaming\Opera\" and rename the "Opera" folder inside to something like "Opera-backup". Do the same thing for the Opera folder inside "C:\Users\you\AppData\Local\Opera\". Now start Opera and it will rebuild the default configuration. If YouTube works, then there's something wrong with your settings. (You can return to your settings by closing Opera, deleting the new Opera folders, and renaming the backup folders back to "Opera") Unfortunately, this doesn't tell you <em>what</em> is wrong with your settings, but it's a start.

I have YT problems, and I think this is the source. It also messes with media in web pages. browser.js won't update properly since Feb. I followed the "manual" method, but it doesn't work. Any fix for this?

Browser.js is explained in more detail at www.opera.com/docs/browserjs/

You could try backing up and removing your current browser.js to see if Opera will correctly update it.

Thank you.

It truns out here are two files:

C:\Documents and Settings\...\Application Data\Opera\Opera\profile\ browser.js, 134,684 bytes, 6/5/2010 22:41:39 4/25/10

C:\Documents and Settings\...\Application Data\Opera\Opera\old settings\ browser.js, 114,797 bytes, 3/18/2010 15:16:20 3/25/10

The "old settings" version can probably be thown out at this point. It was edited before it was created according to the file attributes. (?)

Just move profile\ browser.js out of that folder, and update to get the current version right?

Hopefully, yes. Also note that browser.js is digitally signed, so it won't be loaded if you edit it in any way.
