Backup "restore"

I have just purchased a new computer (XP Pro) and installed Opera (10.00 build 1750). My problem is how to restore the new Opera to be like the old one, the user-specific, e. g. bookmarks, wand data, I had on the previous computer.

Opera Help says all (or, at least, some) of the user-specific data was in the folder C:\Documents and Settings\[my name]\Application Data\Opera\Opera\.

After I installed Opera I looked for that folder. It wasn't there. So I surfed a bit, same a password and bookmarked something. Still no folder.

My question is what to do with the old data that was in the old computer's folder.

Thanks.

Peace.

Jim

After installing opera and starting(!) it for the first time the folder in Application Data(or Roaming-vista/7) is created.
If you still can't find it then open opera:about to see paths to the most important folders.

Thanks for the reply, Art. The following is the first of several lines copied from Opera > About:

Preferences
C:\Documents and Settings\James Mayor\Application Data\Opera\Opera\operaprefs.ini

There is no such folder as C:\Documents and Settings\James Mayor\Application Data\

By default the folder(Application Data) is hidden. In windows explorer go to tools -> folder options ->view and select show hidden files and folders. Now all the hidden files will be visible.

It will be there you just can't see it. wink
You need to tell windows to show hidden files and folders.

1. On the Tools menu in Windows Explorer, click Folder Options.
2. Click the View tab.
3. Under Hidden files and folders, click Show hidden files and folders.
