Hi Everyone,I'm just getting started with Opera Widgets and widgets/gadgets/etc. in general and would like to share my frustration with the Creating your first Opera Widget guide. (http://dev.opera.com/articles/view/creating-your-first-opera-widget/)
This guide results in a non-working widget! I don't remember what the error was off the top of my head but I resolved it by opening a known working widget and using it as a template to start developing my own.
Also, does anyone know if the Opera Widget team plans to release an editor to make widget creation easier? (not that it's not a fairly simple process already, I'd just like to see something similar to the Google Desktop Gadget Designer for this platform.) A plugin for Eclipse would rock!
And, if anyone has experience converting Google Gadgets to Opera Widgets I'd like to hear about your experiences. I'm currently trying to convert the official Gmail and Calendar gadgets to Opera format because none of the currently available widgets match the same level of functionality.

Sorry to hear of your problems. I've just been through the Hello World widget tutorial and the code seemed to work fine. Please could you let me know which section was causing you trouble and I'll see what the issue is.
As for widget creation, you're right that it's quite simple already but the widget team are looking into ways to make the process easier. It's not clear yet what will be done but an Eclipse plugin is a good idea.
