Problems posting to Opear Newsgroups - help needed.
I have tried to post my first newsgroup posting to - news.opera.com (temporary)Why does this system assigned name say (temporary)?
My postings appear to be stuck in the Outbox and I keep getting a pop-up as follows:
Recipient error [501 Syntax error in arguments]
The Open Console option doesn't work!
I can get email via Opera OK, but why can't I post to Newsgroups?
The content of my posting which may have a bearing is as follows:
I can access my email via Opera, so Username and Password are OK.
I can access Newsgroups at news.opera.com.
I can access BTI Newsgroups via Outlook Express.
But when I try to access BTI Newsgroups at news.btinternet.com via Opera I
get:
481 Access Denied via @btinternet.com auth server
What do I need to do to enable me to access BTI Newsgroups via Opera?

I think it does this until you fetch some messages, go into the account and set your name and email address, post a messages and restart Opera.
You may even have to edit the account's name in its properties and restart.
I think the idea is that Opera says (temporary) until you actually use it. But, it's annoying and quirky imo.

I just subscribed to opera.test and posted a test message to it no problem. Not sure why you can't. Did you change any of the smtp settings for the newgroup (I didn't)?
If I can get Opera mail won't it automatically use the same settings?
What should settings be?
Mail address field should be set to one of your email addresses you have.
On the servers tab:
NNTP server: news.opera.com
port: 119
tls: unchecked
authentication: none
username: blank
password: blank
smtp server: blank
Port: 0
tls: unchecked
authentication: none
username: blank
password: blank
Outgoing tab:
queue messages: unchecked
incoming tab:
Check for new messages every: whatever you want
Include this account when checking manually: whatever you want
Also, while Opera is closed, open accounts.ini with a text editor and confirm the above settings match what you have in the UI. See Help -> About Opera for the location of the mail folder.
What do you have 'right-click in mail panel -> "Show messages from"' set to?

I have now deleted all mail/newsgroups/rss feeds bar my main email account with BTInternet, which is showing all recent emails.
All others were showing messages going back years, but nothing recent, i.e. nothing at all for 2009 or 2010.
Where can I find detailed instructions to start again with setting up access to newsgroups & rss feeds?
Does anyone know the settings for news.btinternet.com, or where I can find them?
I'm getting
