Quickie: Passwords stopped recording...
I am no longer being requested to record a password when a new one comes along. Is there a place where this feature is turned on/off? Under my PREFERENCES>Security>Advanced...the entire Save password section is grayed out, so I am assuming I inadvertently turned this feature off somewhere, but I can't locate a control.Pradhan

Yes, that's enabled but as I mentioned the Preferences>Security>Advanced is unavailable. I can't set a master password, etc... It WAS working because there are many pw's already saved...so, I'm stuck. Will deleting wand.dat re-enable it, ya think? And if its still there, is that a text file that can be edited, or is it encrypted? (I suppose I could easily test that.)
May I ask a personal question? You give an awful lot of help and it is much appreciated. Are you officially associated with Opera as part of their tech support, or just a good guy?!

O.K., so you're using a Master Password to protect things so that whenever you try to use/store login info, you have to enter your master password etc. (either per-session or every time), but the Master Passwords settings are grayed out?
If so, let me play with those settings again first.
As for wand.dat, it's in a non-human-readable, non-specified format. And, when using a Master Password, it's encrypted in some way too.

Close down Opera and delete opcert6.dat.
If that's not enough, close down Opera, delete opcert6.dat, wand.dat, cookies4.dat and override.ini. Then, edit operaprefs.ini and set "Use Paranoid Mailpassword" to 0 under the security section and save changes.
Note that when you start back up, you'll need to enter your login info for your mail accounts again too. If you're prompted, enter the login info there. If you're not prompted, goto O-Menu -> Mail and Chat accounts and set the passwords on the server tab in the properties of each account.
That should clear out your passwords, cookies, site preferences and turn off the use of a master password etc. so that it's like you never set one. Then, Ctrl + F12 -> Advanced -> Security and set a master password. Then, check "user master password to protect". Also, set if you want to be asked for the master password every time or just per-session.
But, before you do any of that, if the master password stuff is grayed out, click "Set master password". Maybe your master password was lost etc.
