new mails not received (pop3)
Hello,After installing opera, i added my gmail and hotmail account to the mail client (both as pop-3). Everything seemed to go well. Opera imported all my mails (at least those that were in the inbox of hotmail or gmail and not older than 1 year). I spent a good time organising the filters and deleting mail that i didn't want to keep anymore. Today i found it strange that i still didn't had no new emails. So i checked via the web-based interface, and for both of the accounts i had severa new emails that i didn't receive in the mail client. Opera keeps checking my mails and keeps saying that htere are no new mails for hotmail and gmail.
voilà a copy of the operaprefs.ini file

Welcome to the My Opera community!
Are you sure the new messages are not just hidden?
Look in All Messages/Received. And, on the mail toolbar for that list, goto "View -> Show" and make sure "Show read" is checked. And, temporary check "Show filtered" to see if the new messages now show. Also try showing Spam and Trash.
It's possible that you have some filter with a rule that's matching all messages. If you have the filter set to mark messages as read and mark messages as filtered, you'll never see the messages except in the filter. So, also look in your filters for the new messages.
Also, right-click in the mail panel and make sure "Show messages from" is set to "All" or the account you want.
If all else fails, in the mail folder (see Help -> About Opera for the location), there's a pop3 folder. In it is a uid file for each pop3 account. Those files keep track of what files have already been fetched. If there's something wrong with them, Opera might think it already has the new messages and won't fetch them. Closing down Opera and deleting these files will fix the problem. However, it will fetch duplicates of everything and messages that have already been downloaded will not be tied to any messages on the server.
For Gmail, I suggest using IMAP instead.
Btw, accounts.ini in the mail folder is where the settings for each mail account are.

Thanks for the quick answer! Indeed, the mails were hidden so well that I didn't find them and marked as read automatically due to an erroneous setting of 1 filter. For my convenience I tweaked the settings of the views so that the filtered mails show in the received and in the spam folder. This way I have at least one folder where I can find any mail arrived and I can destroy all my spam in one click.
I would also like to mention that receiving Hotmail mails works fine without any third party software. For outgoing mails I use the g-mail smtp-server. This could be a useful workaround for other people wishing to receive their Hotmail mails in opera and possessing another account they can use to send...

Awesome!
Note that for a filter, you can uncheck "mark as filtered" so that you don't have to use "Show filtered" in every few. But that depends all on what you're doing.
