[3409/6351/8372] More bug fixing

Something new to play with ... no listed "known issues" yet, on the other hand the changelog has no Linux-specific fixes so take it as given that the Linux known issues are still there. Actually, the changelog is pretty long, a number of crash fixes and so on. No particular items stand out to me ... a fix related to saving files in folders with non-ASCII folder names that I'm sure a few people were waiting for. Well, look for yourself, see if your bug is listed.

Still same problem with Win7 64bit interpreting Opera as a single-window app, hence no browsing through tabs from the taskbar. Dont know if it was addressed from 3406 by anyone, so just letting you know that it's still not working.

issue:
1a - when hovering over Opera tab at the task-bar, the transparent aero menu with all the tabs wont pop up - it will show only one (active) page
1b - the icon on the task-bar itself will not show up as a multi-window icon (wont have the shadows on the right)

MrEnig:

The ability to preview more than one tab on the windows 7 taskbar is still available, but it's optional in Opera 10.60, and disabled by default.

You can switch it back on - it's under the "Additional Tab Options..." button in the Advanced | Tabs section of the preferences box.

This was mentioned in the blog post that introduced the alpha (here) - it's mentioned in the section headed 'UI Improvements'.

Selecting "Open in Background Tab" from the context menu opens in a foreground tab. Cmd-clicking on the link successfully opens in background tab.

Control-click does not work for me either.
Some still-not-fixed bugs:
  • Ctrl + click on an image to save it. Then change the name in the dialog window, but without typing an extension. That produces an extensionless file.

    http://s3.postimage.org/ayxyJ-e417a60e6fff01043f62031043c12ab7.png
    Look at the shots. If I click 'Save' in the first case, everything is okay. But if go on the second way, I have to add the extension myself. Reported as DSK-300193.
  • I've got a problem with some of the context menus - when I add an icon to a menu entry, it stops working.
    E.g. under [Speed Dial Thumbnail Popup Menu],
    Item, "Reload" = Reload thumbnail
    works, but
    Item, "Reload" = Reload thumbnail,,,,"Reload"
    does not. Same for the rest of the entries under the same section. Can someone confirm? Reported as DSK-301133.
  • You all know how images are rendered in Opera - from top to bottom. Larger ones (e.g. wallpapers) seem to stop rendering sometimes at about 10%, other times at about 50. It continues the download (as seen from the progress bar), but the whole image is drawn only after it's fully loaded. This seems to happen both when I open an image in a separate tab and when I view it on a page (e.g. deviantArt).
  • Some issues with autocomplete - sometimes I have to type 3-4 characters of a bookmark's name for it to show up - in such case, only the address would appear, but not the title. Another point - typing 'config', 'debug', 'cache' does not show Opera's 'internal' pages like I think it should.
  • The search field does not remember its size. I can resize it, but when I close the current tab, it gets back to its default width.

In K, it seems to be close to 128K where it stops rendering.

Is more than one tab open? The address bar is distinct for each page, making a change in one page's address bar will not effect the address bar of other open pages ... but should effect new tabs.

In Preferences > Advanced > Tabs, "When closing a tab" setting does not work

Steps to reproduce
===================
1. Change the default "Activate the last active tab" to "Activate the next tab"
2. Open several tabs and close one of them

Expected result
===============
Focus shifts to the next tab

Actual result
=============
Focus shifts to the last active tab

I don't know what screen you are using, but I'm with a 20" wide-aspect one (1680x1050), so when running Opera in a maximized window, the search field is about 245-250 pixels wide. I can shrink it a bit (to about 160 px), but when I open a new tab, it opens with the size of the field to the mentioned 'minimum' size. It's okay if I make it bigger as that has effect on new tabs, but shrinking it is somehow buggy - if that's really the minimum, I would be unable to make it smaller. I hope I'm clear enough.

seems like an odd thing and maybe no biggie but why is there no Opera icon in the install-uninstall list?

icon.png

Also can anyone tell me if it is possible to use the new installer and keep my profile in the Opera install directory?
Usually the new installer wants to force it into the normal place and the older installer leaves it right where it is.

thanks smile

You could manually change it after install, but most people wouldn't consider it worth the trouble... easier just to use the "classic" installer where it gives you the choice. (For others reading this, don't try it on Vista or Windows 7, user access control will give you nothing but trouble. Also don't try it on any limited account on XP, 2K or NT.)

thanks I will keep using the classic since I would rather keep it where it is for now. Would be nice if there was an option in the custom installer to have the profile in a location that you select. So if I wanted to keep it in My Documents or Documents I could. I am using this in Win7 but yes others would have issues doing this.

See the desktop team blog if there's any doubt, there's a set of links in the sidebar ... but currently 3409 is latest.

If it's a part of the default installation, then I'm not surprised it's overwritten on an upgrade. I would personally try saving the session manually.

printing problems are severe - more thn 1 page sites just block opera :/
btw - still impossible to drag a tab to speeddial - is it intentional?

is just lost half of my passwords in the wand - why? it happened already on some updates on 10.5 alphas and RC - why is it happening again and again, the worst thing is - its "partially lost" and by the size of the wand.dat (byte for byte same as before) i can say - there are all the passwords in - it just doesn't recognize them anymore.
kind of annoying.
