SPNEGO/Negotiate/Kerberos Single Sign-On authentication.

Hi!

Opera doesn't currently support SPNEGO/Negotiate/Kerberos Single Sign-On authentication. The support is already implemented in all other mainstream browsers.

Please add support to Opera too.

Thanks you for reply.

AFAIK there is a workaround which requires additional proxy server or something like that. But that's very rude workaround and real solution is required.

Same problem here. We use Opera since 1999 and are forced now to move to another not so foxy browser. Any plan to integrate SPNEGO / Kerberos / Integrated Windows Authentication?

It is kind of pity Opera is focusing on speed. You are going to lose many customers if you do not provide basic features available in all most mainstream browsers like Kerberos/SPNEGO authentication (although mainly related to corporate environments). Our company is migrating towards multi-factor authentication and no username/password will be available to authenticate against applications and proxy servers. IE, Firefox and Chrome they all are ready...

Hi

I agree with the request for enhancement to offer kerberos integrated authentication. Most companies direct all http/https traffic through proxies. With Windows 2008 R2 Microsoft introduced the ability to disable NTLM support in AD. This is the first step to NTLM becoming defunct. Microsoft have acknowledged that NTML isn't a secure authentication protocol, especially since you need not known a user's password to impersonate them, obtaining their hash is sufficient.

Please don't wait as long to implement kerberos support as Opera did to implement NTLM. If you Opera wants to drive adoption of Opera it needs to offer features in alternative browsers.

This is the only reason I'm not using Opera in my company. Opera should seriously consider implementing this if it wants to be taken seriously as a mainstream browser.

Hint: IBM uses Firefox as its mainstream browser. Opera should aim for that by implementing this feature.

You have a fair point. In my opinion, while CSS, SVG, etc., may be more glamorous to write up in press releases, things like SSO and SOCKS support are more needed now for compatibility with the corporate world.

Hi,

Just to add my voice to this.

SPNEGO support in opera would be really really useful.

I also really would like this functionality, my student association is moving more and more to kerberos which means I now have to use IE for many things instead of my favourite browser Opera. sad

Chrome has Kerberos, but not completely yet, as it only works against Apache httpd and other servers accepting non-standard SPNEGO tickets. There is a problem with Java-based http servers where you cannot use it so far: https://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=85510

Opera is now the only 64 bit browser for windows other than IE. Firefox dropped its unofficial 64-bit support a couple weeks ago. Opera's inability to use integrated windows authentication is what is preventing me from moving to opera full time. Please fix this.

R3van: Did you really suspect that a bug-fixing build would introduce new features? As long as the Version does not change by at least 0.1 there will be definitely no new features.

I suppose "SPNEGO/Negotiate/Kerberos Single Sign-On authentication support" could be considered a "security enhancment" smile

Yep, this is bit annoying - I have to use different browser for our companies internal sites as they use single sign on.

Still no support as of version 12.15.

Not supporting the authentication protocol is one thing, but Opera pops up a password prompt. This confuses users, who will enter their (correct) credentials and still be denied access to SPNEGO-only sites.

I would think at the very least, Opera could refrain from displaying a useless password prompt.
