Add an option to disable previous searches.

pretty much the title say it all...

to have an option to disable/enable previous searches.

one of the best things of opera in my opinion is the option to configurate the browser in pretty much every single aspect.

why not to have a option to disabel/enable previous searches?.

The OP doesn't want Opera to show the history of search input in the search field, IMHO an on demand option is great.
Because current behavior is discourage those who are concern about privacy to use the search field.
Just imagine the disastrous effect of someone stumble upon some of the terms you previously searched when they use the search function... lol

Actually, I think zikzakatak is asking for an option that would prevent the search terms from appearing there. And I would like option for those 'search terms history'-things as well. (I have a different search usage for the address bar and search box, I want to get the autocomplete in the address bar, but NOT have it in the search box since it's useless and a bit annoying (for me) there anyway (and clicking the 'x' button after every search is just stupid))

Option to disable previous search storing would not be out of place

no if you click the X it will disapear for that session...log out come back and again it will appear...(so if next session the previous searches will show again)

im talking a way to disable (not showing at all) or leaving as it is now--> best thing of opera gives you an option of the degree of privacy you want.

and it's about privacy, thats why i jump into opera more than 10 years ago, is just odd not having a way to disable this option in opera...

I've wanted the option to turn this off since 10.50's release too. I mean, if you're searching that often for the same exact thing, you probably should be using the bookmark or notes features instead wink

Changing 'search_field_history.dat' to read only - as per Tamil's suggestion - does not fix the problem in 11.62.
