How does your Opera look?

Here is a screenshot (600x800) of my Opera

Here is one of my Linux machines, with Opera Next installed, customised to make good use of screen real estate:

http://files.myopera.com/ruario/Pictures/examples/opera-next_xfce_1280x1024.png

Some things I have done include:

  • Removed the title bar (for space)
  • Removed the tab bar (for space)
  • Removed the address bar (for space)
  • Moved the status bar to the top and embedded an address field (because the status bar is thinner than the address bar wink )
  • Added an Opera Menu to the status bar (since there is no address bar)
  • Added a trash button to the status bar (since there is no address bar)
  • Added a New tab button to the status bar (handy to have should I decide I want a new tab just as I am about to edit an address)
  • Removed the Panel button (since I can use a shortcut to open it)
  • Removed the Unite button (since I can use the Opera Menu or Panel)
  • Removed the Opera Link (sync) button (since I can use the Opera Menu)
  • Removed the status field from the status bar (it would compress the size of the address field otherwise)
  • Installed the the Popup Statusbar extension (to provide status information since the regular status field is removed)
I deal with the lack of home, forward, backward, reload buttons with mouse gestures and keyboard shortcuts. I use the address field for searches. I access and get an overview of tabs via Ctrl+Tab and the Windows panel.

Maximized image
- Stacked tabs with Email x Downloads and Google Reader x Calendar
- pop up status bar extension
- Opera clean revamped theme
- Static 2.0 Win7 theme (disabled Aero blur)
- customized menu
- added spaces to improve aesthetics

I might want to make it cleaner after looking at some of these posts.

I became tired with my whole desktop theme in general, so I changed everything. Of course, I had to update my skin to make it match.
Now it looks even better! (Unless I decide to use thumbnails in tabs, I kinda "cheated" it by using box-stretch, but still))

Any elegant solution to get rid of the status bar while still keeping some status icons visible (mainly the Sync icon) ?

You can put them next to the adresse bar, it's kinda useful.

So, here's a 11.50 I'll be trying to use now: Tab bar on the left, with some extra buttons added to the mini-toolbars that originally only hold the Menu button and the Closed tabs button. All other toolbars are off.

Could you share it on Opera's skin catalog and keep it development. Looks cool.

It's a modified IBIS inspire skin with a hacked addressfield (increased minimum-width) and a "execute-field" on the right.

The native skin has slowly improved over time though in Opera 11.5 I'm currently using the D.T.A. skin since the full file menu doesn't play nice (fixed in 12 though).

Standard skin with a slightly modified Speed Dial.

Every morning a lion wakes up. It knows it must outrun the slowest gazelle or it will starve to death.
It doesn't matter whether you are a lion or a gazelle: when the sun comes up, you'd better be running.
