1 World Trade Center: Space Available
One World Trade Center will be open in 2013, and the Transit Hub will open in 2014. One WTC will ultimately have 105 floors.Given 9/11 realities, would you be willing to rent office space?
Frankly, I think the owners should paint a giant bulls-eye at the 100 floor level.

The World Trade Center site will be safe. There is little to fear, Al Qada is declining. Bin-Ladens strategy was to hole up in Afghanistan where he believed himself safe from American Forces. he was holed up in Push-tan tribal Areas that even the Soviet Armies could not penetrate. The Taliban cooperated saying something about not being able to turn over a guest, that is Bin Laden to the Americans.
The counter strategy is simple. Now Bin ladens allies the Taliban have lost power. The Push-tan tribal areas have had their semi autonomy encroached on by the assertion of sovereignty by the governments of Pakistan and Afghanistan. The Islamic economies of both Afghanistan and Pakistan allow their leaders be bought with chump change. Sure some have reneged, you can only buy so much loyalty. The disloyal leaders names are in the data base and the undependable leaders will no longer receive payments of chump change. The funds will go to their rivals. As long as Bin Laden lives, when he looks up to toward heaven and will see drones in the sky hunting for him.
Leaders everywhere can say what they want, they know that if their countries export violence there will be regime change. Actions speak louder than words.
Anyway, I would rent out an office... near the ground floor

Wouldn't bother me. If anything, I'd be happy to give a one finger salute to the people who knocked the first one down, dead though they are, and those who supported/agreed with their efforts.

No, but for another reason. Before 2001 this was the part of Manhattan I really didn't like, and I have little hope that WTC Mark II will be any better. New York City is a lovely town, but this part was just another financial district hell hole. I could get much better real estate in NYC at far lower rent.Given 9/11 realities, would you be willing to rent office space?

A parachute might be a sensible piece of officer equipment.
Agreed.

The problem might be that it isn't necessarily about countries but about people for whom country means nothing. When your God calls for jihad, you may have to act without presidential approval.
After 9/11, the FAA mandated new, heavier, bulletproof doors for airline cockpits across the U.S. commercial air fleet. All commercial airliners now have them installed. While fortified doors are a dramatic improvement, compared to previously existing ones, they are far from a panacea against a motivated terrorist team.
Soon after 9/11, a new, fortified cockpit door was breached by a drunken passenger on an international flight.
A few months later, an after-hours cleaning crew easily broke one off its hinges on a bet, by running a heavy snack cart into it, instantly gaining access to the cockpit.
Some transoceanic flights are up to six hours from the nearest point of landing in an emergency, providing ample time for a terrorist team to work on breaching the door.
But, by far, the greatest weakness in the fortified door is that it must be routinely opened during flight. Every time the pilots receive a meal, every time they must use the lavatory, the door must be opened, providing a terrorist seated in First Class the opportunity to leap forward through the opened door and through any flight attendant guarding it, to block it open for other terrorists, or worse, to slam it behind him, preventing even the passengers or possible air marshals from gaining entry to help. In tests, APSA personnel were successful in gaining cockpit entry this way, 100% of the time, even though the “flight crew” knew it was coming.

And therein lies the rub.

Sure, and I've been on the moon.
Originally posted by Juggalo1:

If we assume that's true, deported still spells major moral superiority refugees (or just regular citizens) killed.
Originally posted by Juggalo1:

And there I thought the US probably held the record, if only thanks to Hiroshima.
Originally posted by Juggalo1:

Meanwhile countries like Egypt and Saudi Arabia block any kind of condemnation of Hamas, while actively contributing to such. Regardless of whether the number is correct, the situation is ludicrous.

I must've been dreaming the targeting of infrastructure to hinder the movement of Saddam's troops (and also the same vice versa) back in '03.

Yeah, absolutely no Somalians died at the Kenyan border. Not saying that isn't bad (if true), but most of these only, highest number, etc. claims are obvious nonsense.

2. Markets are better organized. Trying to go to the market before was at your own risk–too many vendors, crowded and narrow streets, constant fights between street vendors…chaos. Hamas police forces took control of the markets and anyone who does not obey the law, they beat them up on the spot. They made examples of a few vendors and since then everybody does what they are told. Under the previous administration, if a policeman roughed up a guy for violating the law, then the guy could get his family to beat up the officer and no one would care. Try beating up a Hamas officer and see if anyone will ever find you.
3. In Gaza large families who intimidate others have been broken and subdued. In the past, and during Fatah control of Gaza, large clans in Gaza bragged about how many weapons and ammo they could get ready if a fight broke out with a member of their clan. In other words, those few families even intimidated the government. Hamas said, “We are not going to take this!” In the first faceoff with those clans, Hamas threw whatever guns and man power they had to break the will of those clans and they did just that. Since most leaders in Hamas come from small families, the assault on large clans makes sense. Now size no longer matters in Gaza. Said Syyam, the former Hamas Minister of Interior successfully spearheaded this front.
4. Dubious financial transactions and frauds are kept to a minimum. As my dad and siblings own several businesses in Gaza, I can tell you that in the past people can write you a check with no credit and once the check bounced, you weren’t able to collect your money because they legal system did not enforce the law it made. Hamas now says if anyone of those guys does not pay you the money, come to us and we will make sure you get your money. My dad tells me that if he takes a returned check to the proper authorities, the first thing they will do is put the person who issued the check in jail for 21 days. It gets worse after that.
5. Debt collection is easier under the new government. Dad tells me that if a member of the Hamas government does not pay when he says he will pay and dad files a complaint against him/her then the government will garnish the debtor’s paycheck and pay the debt collector right away. If the person is not affiliated with the government, the Hamas guys will call him and ask him to pay. If he does not pay, they ask him to come in. By then most people pay up. Dad brags about how he uses this service regularly. He says most people who like to be seen with Hamas guys are afraid of being punished by Ramallah government who fires and cuts the salaries of any employee of theirs who has contact or has been perceived as such dad does not mind it as he is retired and frequently disses Hamas.
6. Taxi services function 24/7 due to the increased security. This is the one service I enjoy the most in Gaza. Taxi offices are spread all over the narrow Strip. Now we can spend all day and night on the beach or visiting family and know that we can get a ride anytime. This service would not flourish if the sense of security and safety did not exist. Under the previous government, this taxi service late at night was not an option. Random gunmen were seen throughout the night and fear was all around.
7. Random killing is kept to minimum because any unauthorized use of firearms is investigated and punished. In the late years of the previous government, Gaza was a replica of the Wild Wild West. People get killed for no reason and no one knows who fired. People used to lose their lives for being in the wrong places the wrong time or for just being themselves. Nowadays, every time one uses a gun, it gets reported to the police who take it seriously (I suppose Hamas does not want Fatah guys carrying firearms). If you shoot a gun you better be a policeman or have a compelling reason for doing so. The only people who have arms other than the police are the Palestinian resistance groups–mainly Islamic Jihad.
8. The Gaza beach is now a place where families can actually enjoy themselves, as opposed to the past where a few jerks harassed any female that went into the water. It used to bother me to see young men changing their clothes in public in front of kids and women. This is no longer a major problem. For example, I swam last summer with my fiancé and no one harassed us–maybe because it was dark. In the past we would have more personal freedom, but that also means others would have had more personal freedom to harass us–mainly her. Now, anytime you complain of the improper conduct of the youngsters, they take it seriously. To be honest, we had to take our IDs and rings in case an extremist element of Hamas wanted to make sure we are Halal.
9. Hamas has done a better job in embracing technology in governing. In Gaza, many government services can be done online. No need to stand in a long line, eliminating the uncertainty and promoting transparency. There are few government services that can be delivered to cellphones to save people the commute where limited gas is a problem. It seems that smaller groups are quicker to embrace new technologies. That perhaps explains why Hamas has a superior and an extensive media arm than Fatah.
10. Favoritism is kept to minimum, or so it seams… Gaza is like the rest of Palestine and like the rest of the third world. An area where people count on friends and relatives to push their case on their behalf. Hamas has managed to stay above the fray by simply ignoring requests to play favorites. Obviously not all Hamas officials are saints, there is abuse, but anytime an abuse is reported people lose their jobs. I think this is largely due to religious convictions and to a lesser extent Hamas’ intentions to be different than Fatah. I had a young Fatah activist tell me about Fatah “In the past, they used hire women who do not have many work related experiences”, “they only need to show some cleavage and legs and they are hired Manager C level”, “Now, this does not fly with them” This is true to a certain degree, but I think now a mosque connection can help get you a job with Hamas.

My bs detector did. If the list had simply said "Israel does this and that" (preferably with sources), without claiming Israel to be the only, the first, etc., that might've been a different matter.

Yeah, sorry. Doesn't sound better than here in the slightest bit. If it's meant to say "compared to Israel" rather than "compared to the rest of the world," then this is contradictory with the former list. Of course it's all about compared to before Hamas, but the list is entitled "Ten Things Hamas Got Right," not "Ten Things Hamas Does Better Than The Previous Government."
Sounds marginally better, but only on account of the previous situation being worse.2.

So basically Hamas removed the competition.

Hamas now says if anyone of those guys does not pay you the money, come to us and we will make sure you get your money. My dad tells me that if he takes a returned check to the proper authorities, the first thing they will do is put the person who issued the check in jail for 21 days. It gets worse after that.
Of course, the previous government couldn't or could barely enforce the law because Hamas was stopping them iirc.

2. The biggest sin in Islam is shirk: "associating partners with God."
3. Muslims don't believe that Jesus was the son of God
4. Muslims don't worship the Prophet Muhammad
5. Translations of the Qur'an are not the Qur'an.
6. Not all Muslims are Arabs; not all Arabs are Muslims.
7. Culture is not religion
8. Islam is not a monolith
9. Jihad does not mean "holy war."
10. Islam does not promote, sponsor, condone or encourage terrorism or murder.
MISCONCEPTION #6:
The Nation of Islam is a Muslim group.
Islam and the so called”Nation of Islam'" are two different religions. NOI is more of a political organization since its members are not limited to a single faith. Muslims consider this group to be just one of many cults using the name of Islam for their own gain. The only thing common between them is the jargon, the language used by both. "The Nation of Islam" is a misnomer; this religion should be called Farrakhanism, after the name of its propagator, Louis Farrakhan. Islam and Farakhanism differ in many fundamental ways. For example, Farrakhan followers believe in racism and that the 'black man' was the original man and therefore superior, while in Islam there is no racism and everyone is considered equal in the sight of God, the only difference being in one's piety. There are many other theological examples that show the 'Nation's teachings have little to do with true Islam. There are many groups in America who claim to represent Islam and call their adherents Muslims. Any serious student of Islam has a duty to investigate and find the true Islam.
The only two authentic sources which bind every Muslim are 1: The Qur’an and 2: authentic or sound Hadith. Any teachings under the label of "Islam" which contradict or at variance with the direct understanding of fundamental beliefs and practices of Islam form the Qur’an and authentic Hadith should be rejected and such a religion should be considered a Pseudo-Islamic Cult. And those differences between existing schools of thought and the major divisions in the faith Islam must always refer back to the true source… the Qur’an.
In America there are many pseudo-Islamic cults, Farrakhanism being one of them. An honest attitude on the part of such cults should be not to call themselves Muslims and their religion Islam. Such an example of honesty is Bahaism which is an off-shoot of Islam but Bahais do not call themselves Muslims nor their religion, Islam. In fact Bahaism is not Islam just as Farrakhanism is not Islam.

There is a contest of ideology. it is an undeclared war, The Islamist are counting on blurring the definition of combatants and non combatants, the definition of state and non state. Some are going berserk and killing their fellow citizens in the Jihad. An Army Major kills nine fellow soldiers, Two army recruiters are killed in the South. An attack on Fort Dix... The American public is suspect to the fiction that these acts of terrorism are non related acts. A close look is being given to the ideology of the people carrying out these acts. Islam is both a political idealogical as well as a religion.

Islamic scholars claim that Islam does not make a distinction between religion and politics. It would not be a smart move for Muslims to exercise their right to build the Mosque to celebrate their "victory'. near ground zero. The move will cost Islam much of the remaining good faith harbored by Americans. Osama bin Ladin is the most admired person in the Islamic world, Many Muslims rushed out in the streets to celebrate the 911 "victory". Many Americans will view the Mosque as a reminder of Muslim intent and sincerity.

Neither can the Shiites. Of a certainty is that when Iran finally makes it's move. Islams future will be decided one way or the other.
Moderate Islam is riding tigers on it's back and those tigers are out to conquer the world. Trouble across Europe (which they are happy to live in to make a life) only to wish it away is typical of the thinking. It's rise in the UK and Europe will see in the future much trouble as it cannot adequately live side by side with the idea of democracy or fairness. Moderates may espouse such but right across the globe these hard nosed religious fanatics are determined to be masters. Bombing and killing means nothing o them as we are infidels beyond the pale therefor to be squashed. The West has created a rod to beat it's back by having a fifth column that is growing and as it grows it will increase it's demands. That two-faced morality shows itself in wanting to be treated specially and by Heavens when power is near them just wait and see what will happen.

it is good to have an honest to goodness Islamic apologist on the forum. Most Islamics posting on Opera claim to be atheists so that their abusive posts will not a bad reflection on Islam. It has always been one of my contentions that non-Muslims need to understand the honest Islamic position, from the Islamic perspective and Islamic values in order to coexist.

Islam is the political, the religious and a lifestyle unified with a goal to use whatever means possible to subdue the world. The religion, the political and the lifestyle cannot be separated. In the western world the political, religious and lifestyle are semi autonomous entities. it is incredible how many westerners claim that they want to learn about non western culture, while at the same time impart their values to interpret and classify a non western culture.
