Opera Mini 5.1 for Windows Mobile - Registry editing reference
In Opera Mini 5.1 for Windows Mobile based handsets we have introduced a number of power-user settings that enable you to customize your Opera Mini experience through the Registry. Use your choice of registry editor for Windows Mobile to add a number of keys and values to your Registry as outlined below.A word of warning: Please take utmost care while editing the Registry on your device. Editing the wrong keys or values may cause your device to malfunction.
Opera Mini will look for Registry keys and values in the following two locations:
"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Opera\Opera Mini"
"HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Opera\Opera Mini"
Any settings specified the HKEY_CURRENT_USER will override those in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE. To get started, create the 'Opera' key under 'SOFTWARE' if it doesn't already exist, and the create the 'Opera Mini' key under 'Opera'.
With the 'Opera Mini' key is in place, you may now add the following values:
Name: "Locale ID"
Type: DWORD
Value data: 0x0409 (en-US), 0x0804 (zh-CN), etc.
Description: Defines the UI language of Opera Mini. For a full list of available values, refer to http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa912040.aspx
Name: "UI Type"
Type: DWORD
Value data: 0 (Auto-detect), 1 (Touch), 2 (Non-touch)
Description: Defines the Opera Mini UI type.
Name: "Font Scale"
Type: DWORD
Value data: 0 (Auto-detect) or a non-zero value between 40 and 100
Description: Will scale the fonts as well as all other page contents accordingly. A device with a high pixel density display needs a lower value, and vice versa.
Name: "GSensor"
Type: DWORD
Value data: 0 (Disable), 1 (Enable)
Description: Whether to enable or disable the device's g-sensor for rotating the screen in Opera Mini. Note that not all Windows Mobile based devices are equipped with g-sensors.
The remaining values should go into key "LogFont" under "Opera Mini". Please create it if it doesn't exist.
Name: "Height Small"
Type: DWORD
Value data: Integer character height of font in pixels
Description: Size of the 'Small' font
Name: "Height Medium"
Type: DWORD
Value data: Integer character height of font in pixels
Description: Size of the 'Medium' font
Name: "Height Large"
Type: DWORD
Value data: Integer character height of font in pixels
Description: Size of the 'Large' font
Name: "Face Name"
Type: Unicode string
Value data: Name of font face, e.g. "Tahoma"
Description: Font face used by Opera Mini's UI and in web pages
Name: "File Name"
Type: Unicode string
Value data: Path to font file on device file system, e.g. "\My Documents\foo.ttf"
Description: Opera Mini will read this font file upon startup. Use together with "Face Name" above.
Note: The font size values might be capped internally if the value is too high or too low for the resolution of your device.

Is it possible to change not only UI's font face but also font size?
Sure, please see the registry hack settings.
There's no setting that applies to UI's font size, but to font size of displayed internet content only. The question is if there're others LogFont key values that may be settled and allow for example to change UI's font size, or not?

There are only 3 different fonts in OperaMini, the UI font size is one of "Small", "Medium" and "Large" font.
So I think you know what to do.

I too could not get it to work until I read the first posts instructions VERY carefully and realized that you have to create an additional sub-key and place the "Height Small" in this new sub key as per the instuctions:
"The remaining values should go into key "LogFont" under "Opera Mini". Please create it if it doesn't exist. "
Once I did this and reran opera mini, opera mini popped up a dialog (one once) saying something like "Please wait while we examine your fonts" with a progress bar that slowly went from 0% to 100% then now my font changes are working!

And I am VERY grateful for you guys/gals to not only keep supporting windows mobile 6.5, but to also take the time to support custom registry "tweaks" like you posted in this thread.
My eyesight is not what it used to be (sucks getting older) and the "Large" font was not large enough for me. But now with the reg edits you posted in this thread, I was able to get opera mini setup JUST the way I like - thanks a bunch!!!

Much appreciated here, too!

I've had bad vision all my life, but having reached my sixties, I find myself needing larger fonts than ever, esp. since this VGA device tends to shrink the fonts that look normal in QVGA.

Can i use "Font Scale" to get my feeds displayed fitting to my screen? I always have to scroll to the right to see the numbers of new articles or to read when a feed was posted. Anyone else haveing this problem on a 800x480 screen?
Yes, I set FontScale to 100 on my device and it fits and wraps the text perfectly so I don't have to pan left or right.
