Opera 7.60 Preview 3 for Windows available

Opera 7.60 Preview 3 for Windows is available for download. As usual, discuss the new version in opera.beta and in the my.opera.com Beta Testing forum. Please do not distribute the download link directly, but link to the post in opera.beta or in the my.opera.com Beta Testing forum.

Due to the experimental nature of this release, upgrading a previous Opera installation is not recommended. If you'd like to test your mail from a previous release with this preview, delete the \Opera\Mail\ folder, then copy your entire Mail folder from your old install to your 7.60 Preview 3 installation.

Download Preview 3:

=== Release Notes ===

- Use of the prefix "browser" is now mandatory for all voice commands.
- A detailed list of changes is available at http://snapshot.opera.com/windows/w760p3.html#important.

No crash in my environment, from just loading the page. Could you tell us if that's all you have to do. What is your environment (see my sig). Are you running from a fresh install. See rant above.

OS is WinXP SP1, fresh install in a new directory. Version 7,54 is also present. Crashes on loading the page, just after hiting enter, can't even see the page loading. Seems to be javascript problem - when I disable javascript Opera does not crash, but the page is not correctly loaded too smile

Try setting Preferences>Windows>Loading to something like 2 or 3 seconds (not instant). Also try unchecking Preferences>Multimedia>Draw images instantly. There was a post about instant drawing from quiris:

I've noticed a strange difference between opera 7.52 and the 7.6 preview 3.
Please look at the following forum (random selection):

http://gathering.tweakers.net/forum/list_messages/951944

There should be small arrows to the left of each user name of each individual post.
Opera 7.52 shows them correctly as does IE. However with Opera 7.6 the images are there, I can click on them and even save them. However they are simply not visible which they should be! confused

Is this a bug in the opera preview or some sloppy coding of the website? Sloppy coding would be strange seeing that in 7.52 it works fine.

my system: Opera 7.6 (build 7321); Windows XP SP2

WOW, thanks for mentioning the middle-click; I've never used it before.

Are you running Preview 3? This crash has been discussed, but I might have last seen it in P2. There seems to be a possibly timing-related problem with instant drawing. Try setting Preferences > Windows >Loading to something like 2 or 3 seconds. Or uncheck Preferences > Multimedia > Draw images instantly. That somewhat reduced the frequency of my weird crashes in P3 while doing a variety of operations.

Edit: also as mentioned above, are you using a clean install? Installing over a previous release may cause problems.

In that case, I guess installing Inspector (http://www.opera.com/support/search/supsearch.dml?index=432&session=)
and submitting some bug reports (http://www.opera.com/support/bugs/)
is the best you can do. Per the Inspector instructions, archive the entire dump into a ZIP file in case they ask you for it, and just submit the first part of the Inspector dump with your bug report.

I found solution to the problem. I' am using XP under limited access. So for once I logged on as administrator, updated java runtime j2re-1_4_2 to j2re-1_4_2_06. Then I tried http://www.canadien.nu/ under administrator account and no crash. So I am not sure which it was, java or just running opera under admin account, anyway now it works under limited account just fine.
