Fixing Mail Display in 7.60 Preview 4 for Windows
Due to an error in the Windows installer, the wrong CSS files are used for styling message display. This problem does not affect the Unix installer. To fix this issue, do the following:1) Close Opera
2) Find your Opera installation folder (C:\Program Files\Opera 7.60 Beta\ by default)
3) Open the styles sub-directory
4a) If the filenames have .css extensions:
- Rename mime.css to mime.css.bak and mimehead.css to mimehead.css.bak
- Rename mime7.css to mime.css and mimehead7.css to mimehead.css
4b) If the filenames have no extensions:
- Rename mime to mime.bak and mimehead to mimehead.bak
- Rename mime7 to mime and mimehead7 to mimehead
5) Restart Opera
Opera Mail messages should now display correctly.

Files With No Extensions?
I tried renaming file as mentioned here:4b) If the filenames have no extensions:
- Rename mime to mime.bak and mimehead to mimehead.bak
- Rename mime7 to mime and mimehead7 to mimehead
However, I am not allowed to change mimehead7 to mimehead as there is already a mimehead file in styles. Ditto with changing mime to mime.bak

Thanks Isolde, But-----!
Thanks Isolde. I installed the .zip that was posted on that same thread into the styles folder and it worked. I need to poke around a little more as I did not find an installation folder for Opera and have never done .ini changes. I have a limited knowledge of those sorts of things. Thanks anyway. --- Norman HunterSaturday, 4. December 2004, 23:19:35

Is this method any better than just replacing mime.css with an old copy? It seems to work fine, am I losing any functionality?

I installed your zipped mime file and it fixed everything (and it was really easy) as far as I can tell. I seemed to have problems changing file names as suggested in this thread. I was probably not doing something right.

I do not find my mail... I have tried to rename all mime and mimehead, that didn't work. I have tried to replace the folder style with the style from p3, but that didn't work. When I go to view- toolbars - customize toolbars... the box to check/uncheck mail is grey...
I want to uninstall p4, but I don't find any uninstaller. I didn't find it in my controlpanel either. (Opera 7.6 p3 was there)
How do I cancel the p4 and install it as a new install?
(I believe I may have done something wrong in the stylefolder in the beginning, and want to start over... to remove p4 and install all over...)

your mail should still be in your previos verion of Opera
your styles have nothing to do with finding your mail or uninstall or installing Opera
you can manually delete the Opera 7.60 Beta folder making sure you save anything important
reinstall P4 and pay attention when it asks where you want to install this version of Opera and in this case 7.60 Beta
