As much as I would love to see Opera on Windows Phone 7, I don't think they'll do it until Microsoft release a Native Development Kit.

I don't know anything about business cases for browser development. But apart of Symbian there's probably no other mobile OS that would need a good browser more than the WP7. Especially in terms of usability, the IE just hurts.

I recently switched from Android to Windows Phone, and it's just much more modern and very good looking compared to Android and iOS. With the Mango update and deals with Nokia and Skype it's going to be the numer 3 platform for sure..

I started developing apps for wp7 some months ago and I can tell you that wp7 is a completely new OS, completely different from windows mobile 6. All the source code for opera mobile would have to be rewritten. In addition, the only 2 sdk's available for wp7 are for silverlight(for apps) and xna(games), and those 2 are kinda slow.
Maybe xna makes the better option because it has libraries for some lower level access to the os, but I haven't studied as much as I did silverlight. So right now I just don't see how someone could create a browser with a decent performance. Like some one said, a native dev kit would solve some problems.
But that's just my opinion

Is there any possible release date for Opera on Windows Phone. It is besides Skype the only missing App on WP7. I hope it will come soon.

I believe there won't be any Opera for Windows. Actually the user base is minimal and MS doesn't allow it.

the IE7 is terrible!!!
There is no re-flow to fit the mobile device screen something that was design for the desktop.
There is not option to disable ANYTHING (javascript, images)
Literally, the ONLY option u can only specify, is you ok with the cookies or not!

Please, please, I beg you at least tell us if you are working on it, or you are planning to work on it. Please, I want so much Opera on my WP7! :S

I think IE9 running in Mango is a great browser, however, options are limited in the settings. Another thing, MS does not allow third party browsers unless they are running on top of IE. I'm sorry, but unless MS changes its stance, Opera Mobile will never see the light of day on Windows Phone 7.

This is true. However recently chinese browser appeared on WP7 doing some rendering....

I need opera mobile for WP7!! IE9 is too poor!!

There's nothing Opera can do. Microsoft has blocked apps like Opera Mobile.

I love my Windows Phone 7 for all the same reasons I love Opera software. It is an innovative design with great customization and UI design. It is fun to use and makes me more productive.

It is hard to fault Microsoft for this phone except that my favourite software package (Opera) is not on it.

My fingers are crossed that Opera will find a way as the platform grows. After all who thought Opera mini would make it onto iOS devices?

Hopefully one day, Android iOs and WP will all be running Opera Mobile.

Opera mobile not being available for Window Phone 7 Devices is the the main reason keeping me from switch from android. I don't want to take a gamble on Microsoft's commitment to support web standards.

Don't you get it? It isn't possible to make Opera Mobile for Windows Phone 7. WP7 is too restricted.

Same goes for iPhone/iOS.

Please do it!! I swear I miss my Opera! Microsoft still doesn't get what the enthusiastic Opera user wants and that is a warm cozy browser experience like the one Opera Mobile can provide! So do it already rain down you're Opera on WP7...

Hope you will not touch this stable and good platform by your glitchy and buggy software. Remember opera mini 5.1 for windows mobile? I've calculated more than 30 bugs there appeared everyday. Think you will be late and another good programmers will make a good and stable browser. You just can negotiate with operators and earn money for a bad software .

You know that nokia is now on wp7 , and it's not going to be a small market , why are you still hesitating to release one? I'm buying lumia 710 , and I really hope to use opera on that~ even it's just a opera mini~

I actually ditched WP7 completely just because of it's idiotic limitations.
Now I'm on Android and can perfectly use all Opera products.

But on the other hand if stupid iOS allows Opera Mini, why not WP7.

Could someone from Opera ASA comment on this? Have you talked to Microsoft or vice versa? I'm not in a hurry to buy WP7 until Microsoft makes clear how long they will support phones, but they do look appealing.
