I should add (though all the regular forum people know this already) - it isn't official until it's announced. There's a chance that someone could find a bug, and they have to redo it.
Having said that, I got it from

I really thought people would have been more crazy about this release
Monday, 18. April 2005, 14:34:14
people will be crazy about this release. Having played with all the betas and previews, I'm finding it hard to drum up any excitement over the final. It's great and all, it meats all of my expectations, but this has been a long time coming. But that's just me, I get excited over previews and betas much more than final releases.

Aye. I actually have a really hard time explaining to people what the new stuff since 7.5 is.. hehe. haven't used 7.5 since last summer.

Well, the thread in the beta forum was the first one though..

Does anybody know...
Is Opera 8 a free upgrade where we can use our rego code from 7.54?
Or will we have to pay for this one.
Thanks..
Monday, 18. April 2005, 14:39:59
Well, it didn't ask me for a new reg code anyway (Linux).

Thanks for the quick replies..
That is excellent news and as usual a generous gesture by Opera.
I hope it lives up to everybodies expectations.
As you can see I've been using Opera for a good while now and never looked back.
I expect Sue will let us all know on the mailing list soon enough..
(although I haven't seen a post from her in ages.. I hope she's still with us?)
Good Luck and happy browsing to everyone!

p.s.
Being that it's a final.. can we install it over 7.54 so our mail stays in the correct place
e.g. Sent mail in Sent folder??

Judging by the downloads so far, "crazy" is an understatement in that case

I actully took 3-4 FTP servers (spread over the world) and posted them on Neowin and tons of forums so that ftp.opera.com could survive.
Whats the download count?

Voice support is not available for Linux, correct?

Correct. IBM does not have ViaVoice libraries for Linux, last I heard.
