Bookmark Tagging
It would be great if Opera supported bookmark tagging.Something similar to tagging is achievable through the use of folders + description but it is not quite as useful.
E.g.
- If I put a bookmark in the "art" folder it can't also be in the "design" folder.
- If I put "design" and "art" in the description field of the bookmark and search it will also return results that had such words auto-populated into the description.
If I use a symbol such as # to define tags and add #art and #design it is the closest to tagging functionality that I have been able to reproduce.
Searching for #art will retrieve all the bookmarks you have manually tagged with this.
The limitation of this is that you cannot see a list of all tags you have created and cannot see any for of report as to how may links are in each tag.
If Opera added a tag field to the bookmark dialogue with features like auto-complete and auto-focussing to the tag entry field for adding tags quickly - it would make adding tags much more user friendly.
It could also offer a tag cloud or tag list with numbers after (as with delicious) in the bookmarks panel.
If you would find this functionality useful please reply to this thread. If it is popular maybe the devs will add it.
[bookmark tagging is available in firefox. Can't have them showing us up

I agree, I also need tags for bookmarks.
Right now, I'm thinking of using google bookmarks instead of Opera native ones, because of the tagging...

I was getting worried when there were no replies the first day
I thought this feature request would be more popular.
Perhaps many of the people who would use this feature have already moved away to online services like www.delicious.com and www.diigo.com
(but with operas syncing features I think it would be a shame to have to use something else)

This was requested in 2008, and is still being requested, but nothing has come from it: http://my.opera.com/community/forums/topic.dml?id=245951
For what it's worth, and to spare redundancy, here is my post as to why this is needed in Opera's bookmarks: http://my.opera.com/community/forums/topic.dml?id=245951&t=1332380168&page=1#comment11225622
