Opera Backup Professional (free)
I'd like inform you about new software which I am developing. It based on my little experience with Opera. Opera Backup is simple backup tool for Opera browser configuration. It offer you complete backup mail and profile configuration, support for base protocol like IMAP, POP3, migration from different operating system and let you choose what do you want to backup. For example you can backup only setting without include temporary items like: history, cookies, session and old downloaded mails.I will appreciate your opinion on this product, your idea for improvement or experience with backup of configuration of Opera.

What is the name of the backup email folder or file?

Opera is using more than one file for emails. It depends if you want to know where are files for off-line emails or where is other settings of emails account. If you was looking for same items which you choose from left list named Profile and Mail in the log, you will not find them, because program displays physical files like they are store on hard-drive. It is because several items contains more than one file ore folder. File(s) or folders which wasn't copy and you will see in the log red colored.
but Disco Stu has this covered.

I think version of this software doesn't support Opera 11 and it doesn't have backup of mail. And from other side it is not so difficult put same name to the log of Opera Backup Professional like there are named in left side of the main form, but I think like that is better for user because they can easily know why backup doesn't succeed. For example because user has style using file by an other process. If you think something else please tell me..
link@twitter dont work for me

Win 7 opera 11.01 1190
Disco stu saved everything, but it did give me a "failed at the opera mail thing" (paraphrased).
I do not use opera mail, so that is not an issue, it would also be why I did not know that.

Of course. It can not work with portable software like anything else, because portable software has own build-in file system.

There is that option for select specific path if you click in path down-list on item "..."
Can you post for me finally screen shoot of Opera Backup form with MessageBox: "profile back up failed"? Thanks
I love the idea of "backuper", because I hate to copy entire instalation of my portable Opera as a back up...
I doesn't work when I have a single user settings, when the profile folder is in "C:\Program Files\Opera11\profile". It only goes to Roaming folder.
The program has to check if 'Multi User=0' in "C:\Program Files\Opera11\operaprefs_default.ini".

In Opera Backup under Backup/Restore button is backup path. This path you can change it.. Defatly it is same folder from where is Opera backup running..

No a co když ...sorry. But what to do, if I am running Opera portable from PortableApps? When Opera is running, it detect it, but when trying to run Backup, it tells: "Profile backup failed". When I close opera, the engine is not able to locate browser, because it is not properly installed...

How I said this Opera Backup it is not suitable for any version of Opera Portable..

Thanks for this notice. I didn't include single user option. I hope I will include in new version.

I used Disco Stu to back up 11.50 before 11.51 and everything seems to be there, including the entire mail folder and sub folders.
Win. 7 x64, Opera 11.51 1087

Stu's Opera Settings Import & Export Tool is a great piece of software akin to Firefox' MozBackup (I used OSIE before to backup and then restore Opera settings to my new computer). However, OSIE has a major flaw: it (currently) can not backup installed extensions.
Opera feature or extension requests: Option to Disable Tab Stacking | Show webpage title in status bar | Improve browser bookmarks! | Feature/extension to configure proxy server settings on a per site basis

Thanks for this program (OBP). I like it and can see that it has some great potential. I just tried it and have a few observations and suggestions.
I made a Backup, then deleted some emails, Accounts and Labels. The Restore put everything back as it was. Great news.

I then tried to play with it a little. I do not like the information changing as I hover over the "Backup" and "Restore" Menu options on the top line of the menu. I don't know what I did and I can't yet repeat it, but it suddenly cleared all of the information in the "Profile" and "Mail" checkbox lists and opened the Folder-Navigator and then closed it immediately before I could navigate to the Opera older. I could not get it to stay open so I closed OBP and restarted and it was all as it should be again. I'd like that hovering behavior removed or made an option to turn it on/off.
I would like to see Date fields on the main screen for when the last Backup was made and also the last Restore.
I would like to see the full Path for the Backup. With the Menus open in the top line, the Backup shows the Path Relative and the Restore shows it in full. I am not sure why you show it that way, but it is a little confusing. If you leave it that way then you should hide the Label above the Path drop down when the Restore Path is being displayed. Personally, I would show the full Path for both.
I would also like the ability to select alternate Folders to backup to, so I can make rotational backups so I am not overwriting the last backup all the time. e.g.
D:\Program Files\Opera\Backup_1
D:\Program Files\Opera\Backup_2
D:\Program Files\Opera\Backup_3
Thanks for letting me try it.

Would you please send me the screen-shot of Opera Backup Professional windows after this error message and the screen-shot of the page opera:about in Opera (you will get this page when you will go to Opera and write in the address bar the phrase opera:about).
I am currently working on a new version which should repair some bugs and add the option to select your own location for the Opera install. Furthermore it should add the possibility to backup Opera Next. So please stay with Opera Backup Professional.

I see you are now up to version 2+. Congratulations for doing all this work.
The product looks like a great timesaver when moving to a new computer, or even when installing a different version of Opera in a new directory on the same computer. But it was not clear looking at your screenshot and this thread if you can backup Toolbar setups, Menu setups and Themes? I have several custom versions, and I always have trouble finding where they are located when migrating to a new computer.
Also can you backup/migrate Password Manager?
Thanks,
Harry

Yes, you can backup toolbars, menu and themes setup. In default settings program should backup all these.. New version 2.3, which is coming soon, will make easier managing more than one version of Opera Browser installed..

On your screens I can see you are trying backup Opera Next which is not supported in version 2.1. New version 2.3, which is coming soon, should support this version..
I downloaded Opera Backup Professional Ver 2.1 (latest on your website) and tried to install it on my XP Pro SP3 computer, since I am going to ADD Opera 12 in the future. However, I get an error message which says that Opera is not in the default location (which I assume is C:\Program Files\Opera). My Opera is installed in C:\Program Files\Communication\Opera9. How do I get your program to recognize where my Opera program is stored?
