Hi developers, I have 2 wishes:
1. More text sizes to choose from. Medium is too small, large is too large.
2. Desktop user agent. Many web pages have no option to choose the desktop version and automatically redirect users to the crippled mobile version.

Big wish: When the user forcefully closes Opera Mini (Java), attempt to store the opened tab URLs, then recover on next start. (See the destroyApp method.) It's way too easy to accidentally kill Mini when trying to minimize it, on my phone...

I'm Suhail from Kashmir and I've been using Opera Mini for years. In my journey from Version 3 to Version 6, I missed the following things that constitute my Wishlist:

1. Flash Support seems to be a dead project in Opera Mini and full fledged Java-Script Support is not needed owing to huge page sizes, but Countdown Timers for File Sharing Sites, if made available, will give Opera Mini a good chunk of Desktop Traffic since everyone sends you to 4shared or Filesonic for downloading files.
Or atleast, Opera Mini should load the download page soon after the waiting period of few seconds elapses on such websites.

2. An exclusive Download Manager that has the ability to Resume Downloads after reopening Opera Mini is desperately needed.

3. The Supported Download size on Opera Mini should be practically taken up to 2Gb since everyone is switching to high memory devices and faster networks like 3G.

4. In the Bookmark Menu, support for searching Bookmarks the same way one searches Contacts in Phonebook, by typing alphabets, can be a huge relief for users like me who have been using Opera Link for years and have hundreds of saved bookmarks.

5. The option to Manually Add a Bookmark and Retrieve its Title and Icon should be brought back.

6. Bookmarks saved on Opera Desktop should also be visible in Opera Mini, preferably in a seperate folder.

7. The option to Sort Bookmarks by name, date, etc might be reconsidered although it is not necessarily needed.

8. Backlight adjustment or Night Mode or both can help users save their eyes and some battery, thus providing better vision and a few more minutes to use Opera Mini.

9. The option "Copy Link Address" should be added to the Link Context Menu which currently has the options 'Open in New Tab' & 'Select Text'. When copying links by selecting text, spaces come inbetween, resulting in wrong addresses.

10. Opera Mini should have a Character Counter that shows the number of characters copied during copying text and also shows the number of remaining characters when writing text in text boxes on specific sites such as Twitter.

11. Opera mini should have a Multiple Clipboard feature.

12. Adding the option "Insert Note" and "Insert Similey/Emoticon" in the text field would be great.

13. During Power Scrolling, the cursor should point to the links on the page rather than remaining invisible at the top.

14. Power Scrolling using the side volume controls sounds great, especially on Touchscreen Phones.

15. The ability to go to Page Top and Bottom must be brought back and a single shortcut (#4) should be assigned to do so.

16. The Bars at the Top and Bottom should be made Thin as in Opera Mobile.

17. The Scroll Bar Width should be increased a bit.

18. Opera Mini should have the ability to Synchronise the Feed List, preferably across all Opera platforms, since we have to resubscribe to the RSS feeds everytime we upgrade Opera Mini or install it in a new device.

19. The first Synchronisation on freshly installed Opera Mini should run in the background after logging in to Opera Link and further Synchronisations should run during idle time.

20. Opera Mini should be given the Power to Synchronise Settings.

21. Option for selecting Desktop User Agent is required so that users are not redirected to mobile versions of websites when they wish so.

22.Opera Mini should have an Audio Download Notification such as a long beep.

23. Pinch Zoom must be Optimised.

24. The "Fold Linklists" option which is currently accessible via "Opera:Config" should be made a Regular Option in the Settings Menu since more and more people are switching to devices with larger displays.

25. The bug where on opening folded linklists some links are unavailable, should be addressed.

26. The Page Information feature must be brought back.

27. The Theme/Skin option should again be made available to give Opera Mini a cool look.

28. The Number of Speed Dials should be increased to 12

29. An Inbuilt File Manager or atleast a file browser with the ability to play music and open pictures must be added.

30. When selecting text for copying on some websites, the cursor goes missing and scrolls awkwardly. This issue should be addressed.

31. A Private Tab should be added.

32. The Size of the Text Field in webpages should be increased a bit so that one gets to see what he is writing.

33. The "Data usage" option should be placed in the Main Menu.

34. The "Data Usage" feature should be made more versatile by continuously making it to show the Internet Traffic at the top in the form of "Traffic Rainbow" like Netqin Network Manager.

35. Opera Mini should have a "Data Cap" feature that allows users to set Internet Traffic Limits on Daily/Monthly/Per-Session basis.

36. "Opera Notes" feature, which is currently accessible via "myopera:///n" and used to be a part of early Opera Mini 4 versions should be brought back.

37. The "Share" option doesn't work these days, especially when sharing on Facebook. This should be addressed.

38. Opera Mini should have a document viewer that can open PDF files and wrap their text to fit the screen. If that isn't possible, it should convert the online documents into a suitable format and offer them for reading much the same way as Google's "View as HTML" option.

39. A "Zoom Size" option like Opera Mobile should be added in addition to the already present "Text Size" option.

40. When Opera Mini switches from Portrait Mode to Landscape Mode after opening QWERT keyboard on Touchscreen Phones, it doesn't recognize the touch clicks properly. This issue needs to be addressed.

41. Opera Mini sometimes returns an empty/white page, especially after clicking 'sign in' or 'search' button on some websites. This issue is solved after retrying a few times. Hope we don't get to see any such thing in the next version.

42. When scrolling down on some websites, mostly in Desktop Mode, the column of text is not in line with the screen width but nearly 1cm to the left. Also, many websites, especially blogs don't render in Single Column view. These issues must be fixed.

43. Thumbnails of Active Tabs should be accessible on a small Tab Bar at the top for speedy navigation.

44. Opera Mini should have a "Phising and Malware Filter" and an option to enable/disable it when required.

45. The option to Predefine the Download Folder should be brought back and placed either in Settings or Download Menu.

46. The option to choose the Default Search Engine must be added.

47. The "Add Search Engine" option must be enhanced to include every possible search engine.

48. Search Engine Shortcuts, such as g for Google & y for Yahoo can save much time.

49. The letters "www" present in the address bar by default should clean in one go on pressing the Clear/Delete/Backspace key once.

50. The "Search Suggestions" feature should be restricted to the Search Bar only and it should have nothing to with the Address Bar.
In earlier versions of Opera Mini, I'd just write "Torrentz" or "Wikipedia" in the Address Bar to go directly to "Torrentz.eu" or "Wikipedia.org" without having to worry about domain. Hope that same is the case with Opera Mini 7.
Other option is to unify the Search Bar and Address Bar in Opera Mini 7.

I haven't asked for Sky, not even Youtube Videos or Facebook Chat but only wish Opera Mini 7 to be a milestone like Windows 7. If Opera implements these changes, next time we may turn Opera Mini into a full fledged mobile operating system with new suggestions...lol

I've been using Opera Mini ever since I saw it on Mosh— Nokia's old App Store. Everytime I use it, I use it for long and to do things others may not, like downloading torrents

What sounds like marketing to you? The thanks note, the link or the reference to the already shut App Store! My suggestions were neither intended to add trouble or subtract pleasure nor to divide attention or multiply ignorance but to contribute to the development of Opera Mini. So here is one more suggestion for Opera Mini― an important one:

When selecting text on a page, the options "Search", "Search with..." and "Go to Address" should do their respective jobs in a New Tab, most preferably an Active Tab since the "Search with..." option won't work on a Background Tab unless it expands into the list of Search Engines on the Current Tab.

Suppose while reading an article a person encounters a new word, all he should have to do is to highlight it and select "Search with...Dictionary.com" so that he continues reading without distraction.

I want OM have more shorcut. Now, you
can use 2 systems shortcut: OM, or
BlackBerry. But, the shortcut in OM mode
is too little. With BB users, the shortcut is a
very-important problem. So I use BB mode.
But, BB mode do not have forward, and
"left-tab"-"right tab"-new tab...
I am also use UC Browser too. And I think
the shortcut system of UC is better OM.
And, the UC is not "heavy" as OM!

First of all,

*Password Manager for syncing passwords.

*Full Featured Download Manager.

*A better Touch Keypad (I love Gravity's touch keypad)

*Set saved pages directory, in s60 version it save wheres opera is installed, I install opera mini in Phone so saved pages saved in Phone. I want to save these in Memory Card.

*HTML5 support

Allowing me to change my browser identity (my old BB could do it) at will would let me choose and not be dependent on each and every site programmer encoding a manual choice.

Exactly what I am trying to say. Give us option to set the User Agent to either mobile or desktop as well as let us override the User Agent setting at each tab or something like that.

Full jQuery mobile support please - jQuery Mobile works on Opera Mobile but not on Opera Mini. It looks ugly on Opera Mini. And probably most mobile websites are being created using jQuery Mobile now. I don't think anything else could be as important as this.

I'm writing this because I have a problem now. I have a client that I showed his desktop website on Opera Mini emulator and won him that way. I created mobile website for him in jQuery Mobile and I have to create it again in different way because I can't show it to him. He would of course check in Opera Mini simulator. It's sad, because it's the best mobile emulator on the web:
- it's real - not some iframe fake;
- it will handle all kind of redirection - user agent, resolution (resolution is bad way to do it, but it's still widely used);

I would also have some requests regarding Opera Mini Simulator if you don't mind. Could you make it bigger? Most smartphones have 320 px wide displays, and a lot of mobile websites are designed with that in mind. while it is bad thing thing to design website for exactly this resolution, it's in my poiniom quite ok these days to assume 320px as the smallest one u need take into account. If it was 320 px wide it would display a lot more websites correctly.

I would like also to ask you about releasing Opera Mini Simulator to download, so that Interactive Agencies could use it on their websites and customize look, resolution... themselves to serve their purpose better. In my opinion it would give Opera Mini more recognition, since there is no good alternative at the moment. Everyone is using iframe to make such a "simulator" - and iframe is "lying". All the blogs and websites that write about mobile web development could advertise for you for free for making that move. I tried to replicate it myself, but couldn't make so that it connects to other servers - I'm not good in programming.

*Text selector changes color (black to white, vice versa) depending on the page background.
-this will be a big improvement for future O.M. releases since many users find difficulty selecting text on webpages with dark/black backgrounds.

I would have liked a switch to activate auto history delete when closing the brower.

1. HTML5 audio and video and weather in the front screen. Also, please add "My Opera" to the list of Social Networks.

2. Improve HTML5 for Opera Mini.

3. Let Opera Mini save Gmail passwords.

4. Ability to switch between mobile User Agent String and desktop User Agent String (Use the Opera desktop browser UA String).

5. Fix the bugs!

6. Allow user to choose whether to default to the start screen or Speed Dial instead of turning off start screen completely to default to Speed Dial.

7. Load Speed dial screenshots when first load instead of showing "spinning" circles for the first few second after load.

9. Allow viewing of rtf / pdf / doc /docx file within the browser.

10. Apply all the fixes / features to Opera Mini "final" (OM7) back to Opera Mini Next so that users can stay on the "Next" branch without juggling across two browsers, the "Final" branch and the "beta" branch.

11. Import RSS along with the bookmarks.

12. Save the Search Engine's favicons and bring it along to new installations.

13. Allow passwords to be exported and brought to new installations.

14. Allow passwords to be edited (password manager).

15. Improve HTML / HTML5 standards compliancy. For a web company, Opera Mini is very left behind to desktop browsers.

Yes. Just delete the existing version and reinstall. That way the data is not carried over.

add Opera Mini next to download from m.opera.com not from m.opera.com/next. Then i can quick update witchout loosing curennt data. For example rss feed.

Also I would a mechanism to check for updates like the UC Browser.

First of all, I'd like to thank the Opera Mini team for the innovation and effort they've put into developing the next generation of the Opera Mini browser. Thumbs up!

Now on to my suggestions/wish list/vanity list.

IMPORTANT FEATURE RECOMMENDATIONS
1. Please, please, please give users the ability to specify the directory to save pages to.
Saving to the System/OperaMini/savedpages directory means one has to have rooted his phone or plug the memory card into a computer in order to back up. This is a serious no no. Opera Mini 4 (JAVA) supported that and I see no reason why 3 versions and a better platform (Symbian) on we still don't have than feature.

2. Implement backwards compatibility of saved pages.
It is okay to implement new algorithms for optimising data but believe us, IT IS A PURE HEADACHE when all the pages you've saved before can no longer be opened in a newer version of the browser.
I actually copied my saved pages from OM6 to this new version's saved pages directory (yes I've rooted my phone) and not one of them was recognised! Thank God the old and new versions run side by side else I'd be so mad at you guys.

3. Reimplement quick scroll to top and bottom of pages.
Having this feature means we don't have to laboriously scroll all the way back to the top of the page when we get to the end.
This used to be present in OM4 (JAVA) but sadly got the boot.

SECONDARY (NON-CRITICAL) FEATURES
1. Three-key shortcuts
Now that speed dials have increased in number I hope someone sees the why three-key combinations *could* be useful.

2. Navigation history for current tab.
It is a pain to have to cycle through many pages (reloading some of them on the way) just to they a page you viewed earlier. Convenience convenience convenience.

3. Give us the ability to turn off the session restore feature or at least ask for our consent before loading the last session.

4. Have the home tab of the start page reload automatically. There is no point in having such a feature-rich said if I have to reload it myself.

5. Provide an option to choose between the Home tab or Speeddials when opening the start page.
NOTE: Could be implemented using a three-key combination.


So there you have it. My recommendations for the final version of the Opera Mini browser.

in 7.0 add a option to move bookmarks between speed dial and bookmarks. And in Opera Link add a function who can delete bookmarks without url adress.

Well, my biggest wish would be to fix the problems that I remember since my old feature phone long ago which I didn't notice with other browsers. Namely, the reloading of pages instead of loading the page on whose link I tap. Same happens when editing some text fields. After tapping outside the field or hitting the done button the page reloads (common with search fields). Or the problem when opera loads another link instead the one I tapped on. Sometimes I need to tap on the link multiple times until it stops reloading the page or loading the wrong link. This can really ruin the browsing experience. I think it's about time that those problems get solved finally.

i have very much bookmarks . Please add a sorting bookmarks by date, name, adress. Add a Confirm before deleting a saved page.

some people love reading articles in rss. Please turn back rss sync. When i don't read for ex. 3 articles. Let's opera for desktop show 3 not reader articles. You know rss sync like on a android emai client and gmail.

Or at least give us a function like in the dolphin browser where they give option to use volume button to switch tab.

, beucause i can't select my phone from list: ustaw.orange.pl. This posibility will be useful.

when i organise speed dial in NEXT 7.0, when i drag a page and short term with other the other page's positions will be
unchanged.

add a posibility to change language when i using advanced search in google. This is a terrible bug. Fix them as soon as you can!
