Jimmy was an indispensible member in our household. The dog was actually gifted to my dad by a Colombo friend named de-Silva. We even don’t know his breed . Let it be German shepherd. .”The king of Dogs” I do remember his activities very often, when I travel to my past days. The days I spend in LKG, UKG in YWCA had very short pebble memory in me. I do remember friendship.

Recently I had seen an English movie Finding RIN TIN TIN. IT again took me to the past good days with jimmy. He has got a very sheer look of hunter dog. And you Dog lovers should watch the movie FINDING RIN TIN TIN if not yet seen. The movie depicts the exact nature of a well trained brainy dog which is very loyal to the master. German shepherd is known as the king of dogs. It’s widely also known as Alsatian in Commonwealth countries. British had used the good widely in armor field to find out the enemy location by its amazing sniffing power. A good dog isn’t simply born. A hybrid which is properly trained and loved can act as a guide for you in many situations.
Like me even my dad too loved Jimmy. He never ever used to tie him. Even though he had got a separate kennel, he was granted permission to enter wherever he needed. He used to play with me and my sister very well. We could both sit on its back as a ride in Elephant. I don’t know how many timed I had kicked him hardly. Pulled his tail, pierced his ear and even locked his mouth.He even barks at me when I used to tease him. All to my wonder he never used to do anything which hurt us. Bugger comes and sits to us next when we eat. Even my mom was very affectionate to the dog. She even fed the dog of the menu what we used to get. To all our surprise it will stop playing with us as soon as hearing dad’s voice. Everyone will be busy hearing his sound. If you are late to get up, the bugger will dive to your coat, and will disturb you.
Every morning we had to walk 1.5 km to catch our school bus. Jimmy provides the escort. He goes first and you can’t walk or run with him. While we were back from school, Jimmy waits for us in the stop. All my friends used to make joke of it and even my parents never worried of our safety due to Jimmy. I even used to get rid of jimmy due to my friends. They used to mock me ,that dog is my favorite friend. At that time it wasn’t a wonder for me. But now when I try thinking of the past days with him all those incidents run through and through.
Once he even noticed a cobra and prevented us from going forward. It never barked at children as I know. Moreover I think he loved children so much like his friend. Our family friends and neighbors are friends to him. He never went outside our premises and had fought with stray dogs. But chased every one which enters in to our premise. He takes care of our cow and calf. Again provides and escort to and fro….. A strong bonding was there between our jimmy and the cow.Once dad sold out cow and calf miles away. The man who purchased it took the cow in a Matador jeep. Jimmy seems to be very disturbed and barking while they departure. To our surprise the next day evening he bought cow and calf. Also the new man who bought the cow rushing. What happened is bugger, went till cowshed sniffing, broken the rope somehow and took them back. We all were surprised. My dad had given the money back to the man.
Once I had been to a far place, for my vacation. Almost 2 month he didn’t saw me. When I entered the home he just jumped on me and I fell down. He he, he is simply superb. He even used to dive with me in river. Though he won’t swim much, he could float in river for some time. Still I love dogs and stares at every other dog which passes me, he!, he!, he!Finding RIN TIN TIN is an awesome English movie and I seriously recommend you people to watch atleast once. The true love, loyal of a dog is there. Like my Jimmy.
