The post title is biblically correct. There are people too numerous to count who feel if you are just born and/or have good qualities, that makes you a child of God. How many of you believe that a person’s good qualities are a major means for the Lord to usher you into heaven after your life on earth is over regardless of who or what that person believes and worships? Well Senator Obama believes in the good qualities factor as evidence for making anyone a child of God, according to what he has been saying in his speeches.
The bible makes it clear that one has to make Jesus Christ his/her Savior to qualify to be a child of God. Go here to read a commentary challenging what makes a person a child of God and other aspects concerning salvation and the Lord Jesus Christ.
I have awakened to a lovely Sunday Morning. As I prepare to go to the early church service, I am listening to Darlene Zschech, Ron Kenoly and Alvin Slaughter singing, Shout to the Lord. This is a beautiful song of adoration to the Lord. If you are preoccupied with worldly concerns, this song will take you away from them, direct your mind and give your heart the desire to praise and worship the Lord.
Raul Castro is allowing Cuba to be revolutionized in little but important ways. It is crawling into the 21st century, after decades of socialist/communist control that pushed them back towards the 19th century. Not all that long ago, everyday Cubans were finally allowed to have microwaves in their homes. Now as of last Friday, a decree has been issued on the allowance of cell phones. In the past, only top government officials, Cubans working for foreign companies along with foreigners were allowed to have cell phones. There are thousands that illegally use cell phones by registering them through foreign friends or relatives.
Some Cuban skeptics feel the reason for cell phone allowance, is to be able to listen in on their private citizens. The small numbers that already have the cell phone privilege accepts that the Cuban government most likely is listening to their phone calls. Many Cubans would love to have a cell phone, but even with Raul Castro’s decree, they will not be able to afford one. Regular pesos are no where near enough to cover the cost of cell phone minutes. One must use expensive convertible pesos.
Many hope this is the beginning of gaining opportunities that many of us in the states take for granted, such as Internet usage and home ownership, which is still forbidden. Internet cell phones such as the iPhone will not be sold to the masses, but they can get phones with photo and video technology. I am glad I do not live in a country where able bodied working men and women are not allowed to own the roof over their heads, and the government feels so threatened by technology that it has to suppress its citizens to keep them from its benefits. Cuba is inching away from its suppression by welcoming small bytes of technology.
My blogging was light this week, because of my final project for my Saturday morning course is due next week; thus I had to give it top priority. This Saturday will be the end for the first class of my three classes for my childcare director’s credential. This course dealt with general business practices. From time to time, the instructor related it to the business of childcare.
My blogging will be on the light side during the upcoming week as I finish my project and complete the take home portion of my final exam which is 3 long essays. The multiple choice part of the final will be completed on Saturday.
This class was not so horrible for a Saturday morning. I did not study for the first exam for this class, because of some major job related problems that kept me preoccupied that week. I only looked over the chapters the morning of the test while on the train commute, and during the hour before that 9:00 AM exam. I did very well with perfect scores on the 2 essay questions and the bonus question. I only messed up on a couple of the multiple choice questions.
The biggest challenge is developing the final project’s operating budget, cash flow and income statement spread sheets. Most of my classmates’ projects are childcare related. A few of us decided to do a non childcare related project. My project is Internet related. With 2 more courses to go, I wish at least one could be offered online, but I know that is a fat chance.
This young man, Ladarius Beal is standing by his principles. He is a 17 year old Christian evangelical and conservative. He is a junior in a black high school in Chicago where everyone is for Senator Barack Obama for president. Young Mr. Beal was for Mike Huckabee. He is proud of being in the distinct minority of the up and coming young Republicans. He is not ashamed. I know he is catching it from classmates and adults. Young Mr. Beal is learning early to go with what is right over race identification, even though the race thing with the presidency could be an unbelievable long awaited historic first. I salute the Ladarius Beals of the world. This is good. Read more about young Mr. Beal and other young Republicans here.

Republican Presidential Nominee, Sen. John McCain has returned from his trip to the Middle East and Europe. He says withdrawing troops the way both Democratic presidential hopefuls desire would undermine the progress that the allied forces are making in their pursuit of Al-Quaeda in the northern Iraqi city of Mosul. This is good. The Democrats in general are not acknowledging the gains in Iraq. Read more here.
The extreme pressure is on for Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick to resign after being formally charged with 12 counts which include perjury, obstruction of justice, and misconduct in office. He will be arraigned today. He refuses to resign and is trying to make it racial in a predominately black city with a black Wayne County prosecutor. He is facing possible jail time if convicted. Mayor Kilpatrick has ruined a promising career and the other parts of his life. God bless his family including his mother, Representateve Carolyn Cheeks Kilpatrick. This has to be an awful time for them. This is bad and ugly. Read more here and here.
A close eye is kept on my 13 year old twin nieces and my younger niece (who is with us on weekends) in their web surfing by myself and my sister (twins’ mother). My nieces know that I can get into the computer and find out what web sites they have visited. The twins love virtual game sites. One of my twin nieces found a virtual site that had her being a surgeon operating on a knee cap. They are into the virtual creations of Sims2. My sister allowed them to have certain Sims2 computer games, because not all of them are suitable for 13 year olds.
My younger niece loves to do what the twins do. She likes creating neighborhoods and households in the Sims2 virtual realities. But she is also still into websites such as Barbie, cartoon network and Disney. All my nieces have school friends that tell them about a newly discovered website to tryout. There is one I found out about and I am watching them to make sure they do not get on it.

This man’s life was messed up for over 25 years. The U. S. justice system is wonderful, but not perfect. The man, Willie Earl Green was convicted for a crime he did not commit. He served time in prison for a quarter of century before being released. Superior Court Judge Stephen A. Marcus threw out his 1983 murder conviction of a young woman. The sole eye witness had recanted and there was more personal physical information about the witness that was kept from Mr. Green’s trial that most likely would have swayed the jury’s verdict. The Los Angels County district attorney’s office is not fighting Mr. Green’s release.
Willie Earl Green is jubilant and says he is not bitter. He is thankful, because while in prison he was able to get an Associate’s degree, teach math to other inmates (who others have given up on) and marry his pen pal. He has nearly served 25 years of a 33 year sentence.
Mr. Green was one of those prisoners crying the plea, “I’m innocent. I did not do it”. The general response to that type of a plea is, “yea sure”, but Mr. Green never gave up fighting for his innocence. I think it is a shame that it took 25 years. His response to the failing of the justice system question is that the same system that put him in jail is also getting him out.
I pray the best for Mr. Green and his wife who has breast cancer.
