Rush Limbaugh, Controversy
In my neck of the woods many folks are happy with how the Rush Limbaugh Saint Louis Rams Football team purchasing controversy turned out. One of the local urban Philly talk show hosts posted a link to a petition declaring Rush a racist (His get the bone out of your nose comment dose not help things, but I like him anyway). On the other hand; believe it or not, there are some supporters of Rush among blacks. Read two here and here. Stephen A. Smith who is not a great fan of Rush expressed what I found to be the correct position on Rush's now failed purchasing bid of the Saint Louis Rams. I agree with Mr. Smith about the phony righteous indignation coming from some of the black football players.
Rifqa Bary Ordered Back to Ohio
Rifqa Bary was ordered back to Ohio. The judge deemed that her home state of Ohio has the jurisdiction over her situation and not Florida, the state she ran away to. When Rifqa is returned to Ohio, she will be put in a foster home. But first, the judge decided that the immigration status of her family would be dealt with in Florida. Rifqa Bary will stay in Florida until this matter is settled. Her parents have been ordered to show proof of their immigration status.The ramifications concerning Rifqa are not good at this point. If her family's immigration status is deemed illegal, the entire Bary family can be deported back to Sri Lanka. Certain death will be awaiting Rifqa there where Sharia Law dominates and punishes apostates i.e. anyone who leaves Islam by death. Continue to pray for her situation. Fox Releases Dr. Marc Lamont Hill
Here comes my independent stream streak. It is being reported that Fox News has released Dr. Marc Lamont Hill from being a contributor. Shareholders demanded his termination because of his support for Mumia Abu-Jamal and racial positions. I never agreed with Dr. Hill's far left position on anything, but loved the point/counter point that was provided between him and opposing Fox hosts, contributors and/or guests. I will miss him on Fox, especially his debates with Bill O'Reilly. My right sided Facebook friends are joyful over his termination. Dr. Hill is one of my FB liberal left friends. On his FB page, people are telling him not to let the dust form under his feet. Dr. Hill's FB friends feel Fox is racist anyway and only watched Fox when he was on a Fox program. Many feel Dr. Hill is the voice of reason when he and Bill O'Reilly go at it.
The truth is that people from both conservative right and liberal left can't deal with opposing viewpoints. Dr. Hill always took the high road in his arguments without being personally insulting, but many right sided viewers still could not stand him and questioned why Dr. Hill was even on Fox. Is Fox only suppose to present the point of view of conservatives? If so, then Fox needs to get rid of their "fair and balance" montra.
Many on the liberal left, especially those of color can't stand Fox. They have a hard time with conservatives and have extreme difficulty in dealing with the point of view of black conservatives and some libertarians. Things get so emotional and the name calling rises to the stratosphere. Now I wonder if Dr. Hill will turn up on MSNBC? It definitely will not be point/counterpoint if he shows up over there.
Tom Joyner's Victory
Joyner of the syndicated Tom Joyner Morning Show which is on urban radio stations across the country is experiencing victory over horrific injustices to his ancestors in 1915. He has won pardons for his two uncles, Thomas and Meeks Griffin who where executed for crimes they did not commit. They were framed by a black man who today is considered the most likely person to have committed the crimes. Mr. Joyner received scholarly assistance from Professor Henry Louis "Skip" Gates.
