Update: No Truth in Haddonfield

, , , ...

Back in late June I did a post on a home ruined by drunken partying teenagers in Haddonfield, New Jersey. The teens that have been in a Camden courtroom have been lying and covering up for one another. The presiding Judge Angelo DiCamillo wondered out loud whether anyone had told the truth in a court that included high priced lawyers and parents of the accused. The owner of the home, Colleen Falasca did not wonder. When her time came to speak before the court, she said that the teens were not telling the truth.

The home was trashed with beer, urine-filled Super Soaker, semen covered stuffed animals, and 10 pounds of meat balls, The teens ran amuck with a fire extinguisher. The prosecutor has yet to be able to prove which teen defecated in the $50,000.00 antique Steinway.

The last three (out of 12) charged cut plea deals last Friday. Two of them said they were there but only for 15 and 30 minutes and did not do anything. The other said he was sorry for being there.

One of the Falasca daughters told the court that the teens involved are going about laughing at the Falasca home misfortune. It is hilarious to them.

The other 9 charged, settled in June were ordered to split Mrs. Falasca’s insurance deductible of $750.00. She has only received $30.00 so far. All 12 charged must reimburse Falasca's insurance company $18,100 for the damages; that is $822.73 a piece. All were given 100 hours of community service. The Judge decided the hours could be split to 12 doing 25 hours of good deeds. You can read it all here.

It is obvious that the parents of these children are not making them accept responsibility for their actions. If it was someone else’s children involved in trashing a home, they would be outraged. I have come to find the following statement to be true of this legal entanglement as it is with other family problems, and that is: When it’s yours, it’s different.
