A Few Items of Controversy with the Health Care Bill

, , , ...

Here are a few controversial aspects to consider about the unveiled health care bill:

  • Raises Taxes on Middle Class Families - Up to 2.5 of individual taxpayer income earning as little as $9,350.

  • Massive Medicare Cuts to Seniors - Cuts hundreds of billions of dollars.

  • No Small Business Protection - Does not exempt small businesses from 8% "pay or play" employer mandate. Democrat leaders said it would.

  • Budget-Busting Cost Cleverly Hidden as the Debt Increases for Future Generations - Not deficit neutral as promoted by Democrat leaders. Costly provisions have been swept under the rug, including the $245 billion 'doc fix.'

  • Government-Run Insurance is the End All. Private Insurance Will Be a Thing of the Past by 2012 - Page 94 of the House Health Care Bill prohibits the sale of private health care plans after Dec 31, 2012. This will trigger job losts in the millions.

  • The End Of Life Counseling Also Known as Death Panels is Back in Place - Just think a government program telling you when to pull the plug on an elderly loved one.

What a Few of Obama's Czars Think

, , , ...

Do you think Pres. Obama picked some rather odd people to be part of his administration? How about the czars? Let's take a brief look at four of them:

Cass Sunstein the Regulatory Czar believes that animals ought to be able to sue with human representation in court. Read more about that here. He believes that the President and those in his administration should be interpreting federal law, not judges. He is against that aspect of our constitutional checks and balances. Mr. Sunsteins asked,

"Why is the executive not permitted to construe constitutional ambiguities as it sees fit?" asks Sunstein. "The simplest answer is that foxes are not permitted to guard henhouses ... but who is the fox?"

Mr. Sunstein believes there should be a new bill of rights. The rights he feels people should have can only be found in utopia. In reality, we know there is no such place on earth. Besides who pays for all services related to the rights for everyoner? Read all about presidential interpretation and his new bill of rights here.

UPDATE: Cass Sunstein says, Government must fund abortion. He declares 'no problem' forcing taxpayers with religious, moral conflict.

From what the Science Czar Dr. John Holdren has written, it so strongly appears that he is an eugenicist. He stated in a textbook that he is for government mandated green abortions. Dr. Holdren feels this is constitutionally acceptable. He is for population control for the sake of the environment/planet. For Dr. Holdren, as far as the 14th amendment is concerned, the fetus is a non person. He is also for sterilizing welfare recipients. He is a firm believer in health care covering the costs of abortions.

For more, you can go to this link which I have already shared with my Facebook friends. Dr. Holdren has also written that the traditional family is outdated and that large families should be punished. Read more about that here.

Mark Lloyd the Diversity FCC Czar praises marxist Hugo Chavez and feels that whites should step down and let blacks, gays and "other people" have the power. He makes a lot of controversial statements like that. Many are likening Mr. Lloyd to the former Green Czar Van Jones in the sense that they are both very friendly to marxism.

Mr. Lloyd strongly desires to changes things in the media. As far as the 1st Amendment is concerned, Ponder Mr. Lloyd 's quote:

“It should be clear by now that my focus here is not freedom of speech or the press. This freedom is all too often an exaggeration. At the very least, blind references to freedom of speech or the press serve as a distraction from the critical examination of other communications policies.”

Read more about him here.

Kevin Jennings the Safe Schools Czar is a former teacher who founded the Gay, Lesbian, and Straight Education. Network (GLSEN). He has personally used the "safety" concept in the advocacy of homosexuality in the public schools. You can read more about that here. In dealing with his homosexuality, Mr. Jennings feels that God failed him. He thoroughly dislikes anyone who gives recognition to God.

In the past he has promoted homosexual conferences under his GLSEN. Teenagers at these conferences learned in extremely graphic detail about all the mechanics and variations of homosexual love making. Go here for additional information on Kevin Jennings.

Not Good Mr. President

, , , ...

Did you know today was National Day of Prayer? Pres. Obama signed a proclamation for this day and that was all. He basically ignored this special day. Pres. Obama said prayer is private. He decided not to have any White House ceremonies like former Pres. Clinton as oppose to former Presidents, Ronald Reagan, G. H. W . Bush and G. W. Bush who did. Pres. Obama does not want to be seen in any way in leading the petitioning of the Lord for the good of the United States.

This country is going through tumultuous times. This is definitely not the time to ignore a special day of prayer specifically designated for our families, homes, towns, cities, states, and national leadership. Not good Mr. President, not good at all. I wonder what the serious Christians who voted for you are thinking! I know it did not sit well with a family member in my household who voted to you. Go here for a Christian perspective on the President's lack of presence on the National Day of Prayer.

As we find out about our President's choice to ignore the National Day of Prayer, we learn we now have a state that has made Sept 24th, Islam Day. That is just 2 weeks after the anniversary of September 11th. Will that state also be the first to recognize Sharia Law in the United States?

Applauding Two People: One for Standing Firm and One for Truthful Revelations

, , , ...

I applaud first runner up, Miss California, Carrie Prejean of the Miss USA pageant. She was a asked a question on gay marriage, she answered stating that we live in a country that allows us choices and that in her choice, she was not for it and stood for traditional marriage. Boos could be heard in the audience.

One pageant judge, Perez Hilton who I should have included in yesterday's post is gay. He lashed out at Ms. Prejean on his blog video with nasty name calling. Next, he apologizes and then takes the apology back and calls her a derogatory name for a female body part. Doesn't the Miss USA Pageant officials have rules for pre and post pageant decorum for the judges?

I am hearing and reading that Ms. Prejean's response cost her the title. That is a real shame. Well I applaud her for standing up for her beliefs grounded in her Christ centered faith. Even if I did not agree with her, I would not even think of saying the nasty things that have come out of Perez Hilton's mouth.

Ms. Prejean is starting to catch it for not being a supporter of gay marriage. Really, in American society and culture, you are now labeled a bad person for supporting traditional marriage as the only kind of marriage. I support traditional marriage. I do not support gay marriage. So I guess I am a bad person too.

Ann Coulter is At It Again

, , , ...

Have you ever notice that there is some kind of controversy when an Ann Coulter book comes out? This time, it was that the Today Show cancelled her apprearance yesterday and banned her for life. I did not believed that "banned" thing. I feel the banned thing was put out there to generate a ruckus for publicity. Well Ms. Coulter was on the Today show this morning and was interviewed by a cool and subdued Matt Lauer. So it appears that she was only bumped, not banned for life.

Ususally it is something from the book that is the controversy, which can still happen. Remember Ms. Coulter calling some politically active 9/11 widows on the left known as the Jersey Girls, harpies? The argument was that their 9/11 status is not a sheild of protection against criticism of their political activity. Many people on the left and right took issue with the high level of vitriol, that Ms. Coulter used in her book, Godless to criticize those 9/11 widows. I agree with her intial point, but I am included with those who felt she went too far.

Locally, Philly conservative talkers Dom Giordano and Michael Smerconsih (well not so conservative now but still Republican. He voted for Barack Obama) weighed in. Dom Giordano who appears sometimes on CNN like last night on Lou Dobbs, does not care at all for Ms. Coulter. He feels she hurts the conservative cause, because she is way too caustic. He says she is full of, "liberal this and liberal that." She should argue the case for conservatism without castigating liberals in almost every sentence.

Because of her media exposure, to many she is a recognizable face of conservatism. Ms. Coulter comes across mean and many consevatives want to get rid of the "mean" label in connection to conservatism. Mr. Giordano feels the face of conservatism should be represented by someone more like the late Ronald Reagan. Michael Smerconsih feels she is just too nasty.

Eventually, I will get around to reading her new book Guilty. I have read all her books, except for High Crimes and Misdemeanors. I did not like Ms. Coulter for a long time and that was because I was looking at her through liberal Democratic eyes. I now agree with most of the premises of her arguments, but like Giordano and Smerconish, I am not crazy about the language Ms. Coulter uses to state her arguments.

In The New Year-2009

Now here are a few news items of interest.

Another Ramos and Compean Petition

Pres. Bush has 20 days left to his administration. U. S. citizens, please sign this petition to give a full and complete pardon to border agents, Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean who are currently languishing in prison for shooting of an unarmed drug smuggler who was given full immunity for testifying against them and has since illegally re-entered the country. The fact that he was smuggling drugs was kept from the jury.

With all the different grievances people have with Pres. Bush based on his low approval rating, my big grievance with him will be his not pardoning these two border agents. It very disturbing that Pres. Bush continues to ignore the efforts of every day citizens and elected congressional representatives and senators in this matter.

Another Atheist Effort

One atheist group continues in their efforts to rid the country of any reference to God. Atheist group, Freedom from Religion who is responsible for that loathsome sign debunking Christmas that was place near the manger scene on the steps of the State Capital in Washington have now filed a lawsuit to keep the Inaugural Committee from allowing prayers in Pres-elect Obama’s Inauguration. They specifically want to get rid of "So Help Me God" from the oath of office.

The Ten Most Wanted Corrupt Politicians (U. S.)
Besides Barack Obama, there are Obama advisor, Valerie Jarrett, New York Rep. Charles Rangel and Connecticut Sen. Chris Dodd, Alaska Sen. Ted Stevens and a few others. Read it all here.

Legal Crucifixion

Unbelievable! Hamas legislators are bringing crucifixion back under Shari'a criminal code for the Palestinian Authority to be implemented on the enemies of Islam. Hamas also renewed its jihad against Jews and Christians.

Another Jesse Controversy

, , , ...

I can remember at different times, people from my family/friend circle disagreeing with a media pundit’s opinion on black people. Their response was usually that Jesse Jackson should be there to straighten out that pundit. There was a time when I held Rev. Jackson in high esteem. That plunged to just about the zero level when I heard about him fathering a child outside of his marriage but I continued to politically agree with him somewhat until 3 years ago.

There has been monumental reaction to Rev. Jackson’s castration remarks in reference to his belief that Sen. Obama talks down to black people, so I will be brief. My take on this latest controversy is that Rev Jackson is feeling that THIS SHOULD BE ME in relation to the current Democratic presidential nominee. It all boils down to a bad case of sour grapes. Go here, if you have not had enough. There is also video links to Rev. Jackson’s apology.

This latest controversy has helped to lower him (but not as far down as he is on mine) on the estimation meters of those in my family/friend circle.

Sen. Obama Still Has a Big Mess

, , , ...

Senator Barack Obama gave what many are calling the speech of his life Tuesday at the Constitution Center in the comfort of Democrat loving Philadelphia, PA. The speech dealt with race and division which included his feelings about his former Pastor, Jeremiah Wright and his anti-American statements. Now listening to local reaction from both Democrats, Republicans and media pundits, Sen. Obama’s speech was just wonderful and very moving. The response was not the same from non local Republicans, conservatives, and non liberal media pundits.

Locally, responses from an urban radio talk station were very pro Obama. There were a lot of “Whites just don’t understand” sentiments, and talk of past and present racial injustices. MSNBC’s Chris Matthews thought Sen. Obama knocked it out of the ball park. Philly local morning talk show host Michael Smerconish who also subs for Bill O’ Reilly radio program and is an MSNBC contributor felt very good about Sen. Obama’s speech.

Mr. Smerconish is very conservative when it comes to national security and fiscal issues, but more of moderate on social issues. He did not think Eliot Spitzer needed to resign if the issue was only about him going to prostitutes. I heard a few persons who identified themselves as Democrats in local and national news reports say that Sen. Obama vindicated himself.

The few Republicans and conservatives on the national scene that I saw on TV and heard on the radio felt Sen. Obama did not distance himself enough from Rev. Jeremiah Wright. He also did not explain to their satisfaction how he could sit under someone who trashed America in his sermons for a lot of years.

Sen. Obama first said he was not there when Rev. Wright made the nasty negative statements about 9/11, equating the government with Al-Quaeda, the government inventing AIDS for blacks, GDing America and etc., but then he did say in his speech that he had been present at times when Rev. Wright put out some of that negative rhetoric, but did not agree with it. Really he had to agree with a good portion of what Rev. Wright has been saying, because he is still at that church. Sen. Obama has been there for about 20 years.

I read and heard a few black conservative Christians come down on Sen. Obama’s pastor for embracing Black Liberation Theology, which includes denouncing Christianity as it has been taught by whites (and used to oppress people of color). I am a Christian and I am not oppressed. The Word of God says in Phillipians 4:13, that "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me". As far as I am concerned, this Black Liberation theology is nothing but pure heresy.

The speech really did not sway anyone in Sen. Obama’s favor that was not already in his corner within the Democratic Left, but it did bring up more questions and increased anger from those on the Republican Right. Sen. Obama has pretty much lost the moderates of both parties that supported him. I’m certain that he has blown his chance to be president.

Read Sen. Obama’s speech in its entirety here.
Addendum: Read Michael Smerconish's column on the speech here.
