The Health Care Bill is a Determinate of Blackness!

, , , ...

Rep. Arthur Davis a black Democrat from Alabama did not vote for the House version of the health care bill. So according to the Rev. Jesse Jackson, that makes him not black. A few Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) folks agree. Mr. Jackson said,

"You can’t vote against health care and call yourself a black man."

Now really, who are Rev. Jackson and a few of the CBC members to make such a determination? Rev Jackson mad this outrageous statement at a Congressional Black Caucus event honoring him for his presidential candidacy 25 years ago.

This health care bill has way too much government involvement. It is already been reported that the elderly are going to be hurt by the medicare cuts in this bill. There are other objections to this bill such as the Senate trying get government funding for abortions back in the bill, the strong possibility that employers will eventually dumping their own health care options for the government's and etc. Senate leader Harry Reid has said that the cost of the current health care bill will not increase this country's debt, but where is the money coming from. Higher Taxes!

In declaring Rep. Davis not to be black, Rev. Jackson said that Rep. Davis was voting against the interest of his mainly black constituents. Rep. Davis said he voted against the health care bill, because of preference to a Senate Finance Committee version that reduces subsidization of the health care industry, taxes high-value health plans instead of successful people, and is better for maintaining employer responsibility in health coverage. Read more here.

Rep. Davis did not dignify Rev Jackson's outburst with a direct response. He feels his actions do not have to be dictated by his race. I really wish the Rev Jackson, CBC and many others who think like them would stop defining actions by race and quit with the debasing labels on black folks that do not fall into black group think.

Voting for a Judge Who Said No to Jesus and Yes to Allah

, , , ...

The Senate will be voting on another of Pres. Obama’s nominees. This time it is for the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals and the nominee is Judge David Hamilton. This nominee has been a fundraiser for ACORN and has prohibited praying in the name of Jesus in the Indiana state legislature, but allowed prayers mentioning Allah. Are you saying no surprise here, because of Pres. Obama’s lefty type nominees so far? But does he come across as someone that those on the right and/or Republicans in the Senate would vote for?

Well the following Republicans voted for cloture to allow a floor vote on Hamilton's nomination, thus assuring his confirmation:
Sens. Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.), Saxby Chambliss (R-Ga.), Susan Collins (R-Me.), John Cornyn (R-Tex.), Judd Gregg (R-N.H.), Orrin Hatch (R-Utah), Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska), Olympia Snow (R-Me.), John Thune (R-S.D.) and Richard Lugar (R-Ind.)The only one that possibly gets a pass is Sen. Lugar who represents Indiana, where Hamilton has served as a federal district judge. The rest, I wonder why! Well maybe they feel it was a lost cause and he would be eventually confirmed anyway so they voted to help get it over with and to move on to something else. Read more here.

New Hope for A Third Party Candidate!

, , , ...

It appears that Conservative Party’s Doug Hoffman could be New York’s 23rd congressional district’s representative after all. This 3rd Party candidate has unconceded since absentee ballots have yet to be fully counted. It was reported that Mr. Hoffman had lost to Democrat candidate Bill Owens by a little over 5000 votes, but it was actually close to 3000 votes.

Remember, the Republican moderate, liberal candidate, Deidra Scozzafava dropped out a few days before the election. Though Mr. Hoffman lost, the vote total for him was very respectable for a third party candidate. He needs to have 65 percent of the absentee ballots in his favor in order to pull off the upset win and remove Rep. Bill Owens from office. Read more here.

Doug Hoffman a conservative ran as a third party candidate. I have yet to get on the third party bandwagon. I feel that the third party hurts one of the two major political parties while being an enormous indirect help to the other party and rarely ever wins against either of the two major party candidates.

The day after the November election, I blogged on how Mr. Hoffman’s candidacy resulted in the first Democratic Party win in that congressional district since the Civil War. Now there is a possibility that I may have to eat crow though Mr. Hoffman says that his possible victory after the full count of the absentee votes is a long shot.

The Outcome of the Spotlighted Races

, , , ...

The election outcomes of the 2 gubernatorial races and the one congressional race in upstate New York take center stage today. The conservative Republican party leadership is very happy with the gubernatorial victories in Virgnia and New Jersey. National Democrat leaders are saying the elections were local and do not speak to the Obama administration/policies.

Even though third party conservative candidate Doug Hoffman lost his congressional bid, conservative Republicans feel they have served notice on moderate rhino styled Republicans. Mr. Hoffman's second place showing was within respectable range for a third party candidate. Personally I am trying to go with the conservative Republicans' take on the outcome of this particular race, but it is a little hard.

Political third parties usually get in the way and Mr. Hoffman's lost gave the Democrats their first victory since the Civil War for that 23rd congressional district. Democrats love this Republican infighting that results in a victory for the Donkey Party. I feel the true blame goes to the local Republican leaders that gave the candidacy to extreme moderate i.e. downright leftist Deidre Scozzafava who eventually dropped out and threw her support to the Democrat victor Bill Owens. What were those Republican leader folks thinking?

The Bob McDonnell gubernatorial victory in Virginia was a given. He had a double digit lead in the polls. The voters returned Virginia back into the hands of the Republicans with Mr. McDonnell and voting in Republicans for other state offices. In New Jersey, it was continually being reported that Gov. Jon Corzine and Chris Christie were at a dead heat.

Pres. Obama coming in to campaign in the final days was reported to have helped Gov. Corzine according to polls a day before the election. That did not happen. Democrats say that Mr. Christie's victory over Gov. Corzine has no bearing on Pres. Obama and Democrat leadership. But Pres. Obama went to Jersey to stump for the Gov. Look what happened! It looks like his campaigning gave Chris Christie the bump he needed to get elected New Jersey's next governor.

The gubernatorial wins give Republicans increased hope for 2010 and give strong indication that they are not a dead party as many in my neck of the woods believe.

It's election day all across the country. In my neck of woods, the election is not considered a major one. I am voting for judges, tax collector, borough mayor, school board members and local etc. Regardless of political party and who and what is at stake, every registered voter should be doing their civic duty by casting their vote. Non voting excuses are not acceptable. Please get to your polling place and vote.

The governor's race in New Jersey and Virgina are in the national spotlight do to possible Republican victories. New Jersey Incumbent Governor Jon S. Corzine could lose to Republican challenger Chris Christie, but it is being reported that Pres. Obama's last minute campaigning for Gov. Corzine has given him a few percentage points over Mr. Christie in a few polls. Other poll have them neck in neck. Third party candidate Chris Daggett is proving to be thorn in both the sides of Gov. Corzine and Chris Christie. In Virgina Republican gubernatorial candidate Bob McDonnell has kept a double digit lead in the polls over his Democrat opponent R. Creigh Deeds for some time.

Also in the national spotlight is the congressional race where the Republican candidate Dierdre Scozzafava has been deemed a rhino Republican who is even to the left of some Democrats has bowed out of the election just a couple of day ago and endorsed the Democrat candidate Bill Owens. She had received endorsements from Republican notables such as Newt Gingrich. 3rd party candidate Doug Hoffman who is very conservative received endorsements from notable Republicans such as Fred Thompson and Sarah Palin.

Eyes are upon this race to see if there will be a third party victory. Republicans already got served in the 2006 and the 2008 elections with a national Democrat Victory and now they may get served albeit a smaller serving, but nevertheless a stinging victory from the rejected conservative Doug Hoffman, because he is leading in the polls.

Is 2010 the Democrats' 2006?

, , , ...

I know it's a little early to tell, but the Democrat Party is concerned about the 2010 elections. The health care bill, the town halls and the Democrat Reps. and Senators ducking the town halls are hurting the 2010 Democrat challengers and incumbents. Senate leader and Democrat Harry Reid already looks like a goner in 2010. In my neck of the woods, Sen. Arlen Specter has gone home to the Democrats. It is already looking kind of good at this juncture that his Republican challenger Pat Toomey will be the next Republican senator from PA. Other Republican challengers are feeling kind of good about their prospects.

Republicans are feeling that they could be seeing light at the end of the tunnel. The only thing right now that could dim/extinguish that light is the birthers. I have come to agree with Ann Coulter and Bill O'Reilly on the birther issue. Birthers are coming off sort of looney and could damage the Republican comeback.

Just think of Pres. Obama having to deal with a Congress like the one Clinton had to deal with in 1994 and for the rest of his 2 termed presidency! Pres. Obama would not be able get another liberal jurist like Sonia Sotomayor on the Supreme Court. Remember Clinton's pick Lani Guinier! If Clinton had the Democrat senate that Pres. Obama currently has, Ms. Guinier would be on the Supreme Court today.

The major November election of 2010 looks like the Democrats' 2006. Remember that is when people reversed the Republican voting trend and went Democrat. The Republicans lost the majority in both houses of Congress. Even if the Republicans don't get control of either house in Congress, just gaining some more Republican representatives and senators can help stall future liberal Democrat and socialist gains. Read more here and even from the liberal Huffington Post here.

Too Many Pages for the Congressman!

, , , ...

Doesn't sound like House Judiciary Chairman Rep. John Conyers (D-Mich.) sees any point in reading highly numbered paged bills that come before him. This time around Democrats are getting bad press for voting for the Stimulus and Cap and Trade bills without really reading them. This is far from good.

I have seen a few headlines dealing with efforts to introduce bills that would that would give a specified amount of time for Congress to read bills before a vote can be taken. The fiscally conservative Blue Dog Democrats whom are responsible for the Obamacare health bill not making the vote before the congressional hiatus have expressed interest in a designated reading period.

Currently, the liberal Democrats do not appear to care about having time to read bills that are voluminous in pages. They do not mind voting on a bill when they do not know the bill's details. Now interesting enough, when Republicans controlled the Congress in 2004, there was one senator who complained about not having enough time to read bills. Guess who?

This is How Mousavi is Loosing Votes for the Iranian Presidency

, , , ...

Addendum, Wednesday June 17, 2009: In their efforts to control what is really going on in Iran with that jacked up election, Ahmadinejad and the Mullahs can't force down the Internet. You've got to love that. They can't beat down, shoot or blow up Twitter!

This is a Glenn McCoy Cartoon
I have communicated with a person in this country who feels Ahmadinejad was re-elected fair and square. We got into a challenging match over his love for Iran. He would be particularly offended by this editorial cartoon, but we all know this is spot on.
