My After the Holiday Monday Mix: Gov. Palin, the Vice Pres, Christians of Color and Al Franken
Monday, 6. July 2009, 12:30:00
This past Friday in the mid afternoon, I left for a holiday weekend spiritual retreat which I thoroughly enjoyed. It brought spiritual conviction and rejuvenation. There was no TV, Radio, newspaper, etc. It wasn't until I returned home on Sunday mid afternoon that I first heard that Sarah Palin was resigning as Governor of Alaska. I really do not know what to make of this; but then, I do wonder why she made the announcement on a Friday of a holiday weekend. Just think of other politicians who have made announcements on Fridays! Some say its a tactical move, while others say she is politically hanging herself. Check what some pundits are saying such as The Anchoress, Rush Limbaugh and Bill Kristol.
We are pretty close to a full six months of this presidential administration and the Vice Pres. Joe Biden started this administrations with gaffs and continues. In particular, his latest gaff in making the the Obama Administration not look so good is his admitting that the stimulus money in some cases is being wasted. Instead of letting the market correct itself as the more conservative economist suggested, the country was given a stimulus at more than a tremondous cost. How's the stimulus working for you so far?
Generations to come will be paying back this current Economic Stimulus and it has not stimulated much of anything. It sure did not help with the unemployment. We are about to hit double digits. It is now being reported that the Obama administration wants to do another round of stimulus.
This one is for Christians of color who voted for Pres. Obama mainly because he was not white and to have a president who looked somewhat like you. I understand it. I thought about the young white teen boys I worked with in the mid 70s who said back then with pride that there had never been a black president and that there would never be one. I thought of those quys who are now in their late 40s when Barack Obama was elected and at his inauguration. But I did not vote for him. I put my Christian values above color. Read Star Parker's challenging piece, When Color Trumps Christianity.
As I am doing this post, Al Franken is probaly being sworn in as the new Senator from Minnesota. I can't believe that he even received enough votes to be able challenge a recount in the first place. He should have been trounced by Norm Coleman. This man has nothing to bring as a U. S. Senator. What was the attraction that got people to vote for him?
Note: Al Franken will be sworn in tomorrow.
