More Muslim Women Conversion Thoughts and My Confession
Sunday, 6. August 2006, 20:24:54
I am child care director for a corporation that has 3 centers in Philadelphia, PA. My center is located in the Frankford section of the city. I have been overseeing another of the Philly centers while it awaits a new director. This center is located in West Philly. Muslim influence is strong in the neighborhood. The center employs some Muslim women. These women are for the most part recent converts. I think one was born and raised Muslim. One young lady has returned to Muslim women’s form of dress She admits that she is hot in her kimar – a Muslim women’s head covering (a big scarf), and cannot wait for autumn temperatures to arrive.
In my My Savior and Why Islam? post I said “I do not understand how American women can become Muslim converts.” Well I do kind of understand, and (confession time) from personal experience. In 1997 I returned to Temple University as a continuing education student. I took an Internet course about the Internet. My home computer was way too ancient for a modem. I did all my coursework in computer labs. In this class was a guy that took a liking to me. We worked together on course projects. Of course I was flattered that a guy 8 ½ years younger than myself found me attractive.
After the class was over he continued to pursue me. There was a problem with this budding romantic relationship. He was Muslim. I really tried to ignore the biblical scripture I Corinthians 6:14, which tells Christians not to be unequally yoked with unbelievers. I have been taught how that scripture applies to possible marriages and business partnerships. Well thank God nothing ever came of this relationship. We have both moved on, and I do think he has experienced some success. When I think of what could have happened if the relationship had gone on. Well here are the possibilities:
- I could be sharing that Muslim man with his other added wives
- Dressed covered from head to toe with just my eyes showing (in the summer!)
- Being controlled to the point of having to ask permission to do anything
- Being told to whom I can speak to and not speak to
- Obeying in fear because from the Koran a man has a right to beat his wife.
- Dealing with the conviction that I chose a Muslim over Christ
- All of the above
It is easy to surmise that a good reason why women convert to Islam is because of men. I knew of one woman who converted to Islam to become the wife of a Muslim man. She had two daughters from previous relationships. Last time I saw her, she was covered from head to toe with just her eyes showing. Her two young daughters were being made to wear traditional Muslim female clothing. The preschooler was not happy with being made to wear the head covering all the time. I know of a few former co-workers whom converted to Islam because of an intensifying relationship with Muslim men.
My life would have been a wreck if a marriage would have occurred between me and my Muslim classmate. Christians that I have personally known to have chosen to marry an unbeliever (anyone who has not accepted Christ as savior), have admitted that they paid a terrible price by eventually separating and divorcing, or staying in the marriage where Christ is not the head. They could painfully see the deleterious affect it was having, especially if children were involved. For me an unequally yoked marriage would have been disastrous, because eventually I would have been commanded to turn completely away from my Christian faith.

I worked with a woman whose daughter converted to Islam and married a Muslim man. From then on she had to get permission from her husband to talk her own mother.
You are not living in a country that is compeletly or very partial to Islamic law; thus you have more freedom as a woman. Can a woman in Islamic countries drive? If yes, do they need to get permission from a male relative no matter how old they are to be able to drive?
Cocoa_butter # 26. March 2008, 18:15
im lived in a country under islamic partial law ok .Dont make this one sided this all im saying .
And for driving im not into bhurka woman driving they cant see a damn thing half the time .
my husband is strict withhim self if he was strict with me you think im be here he comes from a big regime but he fell inlove and married a complete opposite of our faith and he would not have me anyother way .PLEASE DONT JUST SEE A MINORITY OK some muslim woman would think this was a personal attack .
conservativeminority # 26. March 2008, 22:06
Unfortunately, I saw small bits of what my future would have been with that particular converted Muslim man I was seeing some years ago. He was definetly going the way of the minority.
I am coming from personal accounts, experiences and news reports of specific situations. Muslim woman should not take any of that as a personal attack.
As for the driving, the bhurka women should be able to take the bhurkas off if they so desire. I do agree with you that if women are wearing bhurkas, they should not be driving.

1. I have been muslim since I was 14 All praise be to Allah I am now 24
2. If you had any sense you would know that the word "Allah" is arabic for god and people in other countries call god "Allah" even chrisitans.
3. I am no more hot than you are when you step outside with your shorts up to your butt and a tank top on but have a nerve to wear a cross around your neck? Where is the respect for your body and your religion?
4. Is that all you people can say is that a man can have more than one wife and the man can beat the wife? You have to come better than that! I would rather be a second wife anyday, being taking care of, and being shletered from this nast world, than be a woman married to a pastor whos cheating on his wife. Or a preist who molest little boys and girls.. And btw.. there are saftey steps and precautions that are used when a man takes another wife. If your married I'm sure you or your husband didnt get a health check from your doctor to make sure you are free from dieases. That is a requirment for muslim marriages as far as I know. I got it done and so did my husband!! I love how you christian people read one verse from the Quran and then have the nerve to start your own blog about it like your a scholar.
4. Why in the world would I chose a man (Christ) over God! What is wrong with you people. I dont understand it at all. God is God. God is powerful god is everything he has no beginng nor an end so why would he need a son? How can you compare god to a human?? Lets forget Bibles and Qurans here for a minute use you brain if you have one. God is not a human being. Jesus was. So how can you compare the two?? How??
5. The only person who controls me is God. I have my own mind. And men are and will always be the maintainers and protectors of women. So I have no problem with staying the house cooking and cleaning, seeing after MY CHILDREN while my husband goes to work. What is the problem with that?
6. You dont have nothing better to do then to have a blog on bashing Islam? Come on now.. No matter what you say.. No matter what anybody says.. Islam is and will always be the biggest growing religion in the world. And you making this blog just makes you look stupid. It shows how much time you have on your hands and deep down inside you wanna be a muslim!!
6.You keep talking about muslim woman this muslim woman that. Did you know that American Women didnt have rights till about the 1960's and you are on here talking about muslim women and what they can and can do lol. When muslim women been had the rights that you people were trying to get. Please lady!! For you to have attended "Temple University" you are very uneducated!!
7. I bear witness that there is no god but god!! And muhammad is his messenger!!

1.Muslims are the last who should talk about contradictions in their holly book, read it well in the original language.
2.U think that the the bourka makes the Muslim woman keep her innocent but u dont know what is happening under it ( c what happen in Egypt)
3.U dont dare to talk about molesting children.ur prophet was married to a 6 years old girl and he promises u not only women in paradise but also lil boys. In Christianity whoever do that will be punished and not rewarded!
4.Ur book is saying that the women are less clever than men thought the opposite is proved scientifically and statistically.i wonder y would they say that!
5.My dear, Jesus wasnt a human,if u want to talk about that just read well the Bible. He had to faces, the holy and the human. He wanted to teach people how to love and being humble and not that they should kill the unbelievers(just like someone else)
6.The problem is when u will ever disobey to ur husband,ur prophet gives him the possibility to hit u.
7.Mmmm, now sayin ur opinion is stupid.do u know how many girls where converted by force in the Middle East?first raped and then converted!is that human in ur opinion?and if u find stupid the idea of that blog then u shouldnt have answer and let her think the way she does.
8.Muslims women have the right to what?im sure that ur aswering here coz ur husband gave u the permission.the internet is haram my lady.
9.so the man u call the messanger wanted to have i dont know exactly how many women, that God ordered him to steal from their husband (im talkin about the woman of his "son")and kill as many people as he can who dont agree with him.I wonder if Jesus did that.
so,i don't want u to follow the Christianity that would b absurd. i just felicitate u anonymous for the choice u took in a young age,to follow a religion made by a man for men in the Middle ages.
Anonymous # 30. October 2009, 18:46
It's a shame how you can say that " many girls where converted by force in the Middle East?first raped and then converted!" First of all, what is wrong with you people is that you believe too much the news which the governement controls. Go there first and find out who really is doing that. You guys think that as a woman we are unhappy, lol we are more happy that you can think of. I am happy i have converted, if i wouldn't have i would have being a whore trying many guys and finding the right one. You guys see the outside but you don't see the inside. We are proud to cover ourselfs, at least we don't have to attract rapist to hunt us. As a woman we need to be more conservative, not show like a woman that belongs in the streets. If your happy with your religion that I am glad, but don't critized ours bacause you think you understand it, in which you don't.
Anonymous # 31. October 2009, 14:42
U say that i dont know what is goin on in the Middle East, then ur wrong,im from there. The government that controls my country would never talk about that....U think if ur not a muslim ur a whore, wrong again...u think ur cover saves u from something, mmm maybe to let guys enter in ur university's house without anyone knows, thats y it was forbidden in Egypte. So plz dont tell me i dont understand anything.....

I along with other Christian are not lovers of what is done under Sharia and the Muslims that want it instituted all over world. I do not like the treatment of women under Sharia. It is not true that the Qu'ran allows for a husband to beat his wife? I do not like the honor killings that are ignored under Sharia. I do not like that a father or a male member of the family can easily murder a female member of the family. I do not like the kind of men who would do such a thing.
I do not like that Islam calls for the killing of apostates i.e. those who chose not to be Muslims anymore. It is the only religion/faith that does that.
I do not like radical Muslims that are overjoyed and posting their joy on youtube with what American Muslim Maj. Hasan did in his murdering of fellow service people in the name of Allah.
I do not like that Muslims are on Facebook calling for the Death of an apostate teen who has accepted Christ as her Savior and is afraid her father will kill her here in the United States or send her back to Sri Lanka where that will definitely happen. I also do not like that a couple of Muslim male immigrants here in the U. S. murdered their daughters for being too westernized. One killed his two daughters over a year ago. The other one last month ran over his daughter with his car.
As far as the media goes, I have seen and heard more than enough radical Muslim men justifying honor killing and killing of apostates. That can't be condoned at all. There can be no excuse for these types of murder or any murder.
I pray for the positive within Christianity for Muslims like you. People who don't like Muslims do not do that kind of praying.

RADICAL MUSLIMS ARE THE ANTI CHRIST OF ALL FAITHS WITH IN ,THERE IS ALWAYS ONE BAD APPLE IN A FAITH TRYS TO DISTORT IT .
i ABIDE BY MY SUNNAHS AND NOT ALL HADEETHS some scholars make up as they go along and they to me are CODSWALLOP .
But would you save a muslim from dying or walk pass them or better still what is a sex abuse found christ and entered the church would u as a christian turn the other cheek and welcome him and sit next to him .I as Muslim would have to bite my thoughts cause in theory he would not be walking the earth after the atrocities he had done .Like the law now allows them to carry on and reap there dirt
